I couldn’t imagine how our fans would react if we did this. NC State, who is undefeated and playing Clemson this week with the division lead on the line, has already scheduled a game on 12/1, the same date as the ACC Championship game! What are they thinking!? What if they actually beat Clemson this weekend? I know they wanted to get something lined up just in case but it sure does look bad from the outside. Our fans would destroy the coach and AD if we did something like that and rightfully so. Crazy stuff. It won’t matter though. Clemson will handle NC State. What does everyone think? Do you agree it comes across as a loser mentality?

I think you are making too big of a deal out nothing. It is scheduled, but it will only be played in the event that NC State or ECU do not make their conference championship games. SC and Marshall have unofficially done the same thing, rescheduled their game for December 1 in the event they do not make their CCG. It's just giving the teams a chance to make up games and play more games at home. You are playing a game no matter what.

How could they schedule a different game on the same date as the ACC championship game?! Regular season is over...

I think you’re looking at the schedule wrong...
Teams are having to make games up due to hurricane Florence. VT is also exploring Dec. 1 options.

Makes sense...

So the championship game was pushed back as well?

No, championship will be on December 1. If NCSU makes the championship game, they will play in that and cancel the ECU game. If they don't make the championship game, they will play ECU on December 1. Same as what VT may be exploring with another team and SC/Marshall. Some of these teams may need these games to make a bowl.

No, this comes across as typical internet overreaction outrage....by you.

In the announcement itself, it clearly says:

The game will be played unless NC State or ECU qualify for their respective conference championship games.

Florida State did the same thing last year. They lost their game against ULM to a hurricane, so they played on championship Saturday. ULM got their check, and FSU became bowl eligible.

Liberty has already rescheduled their missed game against Norfolk State for that weekend, assuming NSU doesn't make the FCS playoffs.

Looking at NCS schedule it appears the meat of the schedule starts Saturday

Fair enough. I admit I heard it over the radio and just thought it sounded odd given the upcoming matchup but I’m open to other ideas and perspectives. That’s the point of discussing it on here.

Just sucks for one if the other makes it and they don’t but I guess they know the danger going in.

I’m not outraged but you’re kidding yourself if you think our fans would like it if we did that. You may not be upset and I wouldn’t be as it seems logical but there would be a vocal group that would go nuts. Save your accusations for someone else Sparky.

It ends Saturday too. The ACC is not very good this year.

Weren’t they already eliminated at that point though? NC St is undefeated and plays Clemson this coming week. That’s the only reason I mentioned it.

To anyone with half a brain cell it makes complete sense, and literally no one would be upset (minus those without said half of a brain cell).

You're tying to make something out of nothing.

I’m not trying anything. I brought something up for discussion. Isn’t that the point of a forum? You don’t think anyone would feel that way. Fine. I see it differently and think people would. We aren’t in that situation so it really doesn’t matter. I was curious to see what people thought about NC State doing so ahead of their game with Clemson.

i doubt the coach had much of an input. the contract for the original game probably had a clause saying it must be rescheduled if at all possible.

Yes, and the discussion is that its a non-issue to everyone. Its to make up a missed game. If it gets made up, great. If not, oh well.

The original game for NC St was West Virginia so this is a new contract.

They aren't accusations; you clearly kneejerked on this and didn't even take 30 seconds to read the announcement. And based on how you reacted to this, you're clearly showing us you're one of the fans you're talking about that would overreact to something like this if UT did it.
