Louisiana Tech beats @ Miss State
Evansville beats @ Kentucky
1-6 Fairfield beats Texas A&M
Penn beats @ Alabama
Charleston So beats @ Missouri
Boston Univ beats @ South Carolina
Tulsa beats @ Vandy

These are just some games that the SEC has lost that should have been automatic wins. I realize most of these teams are the bottom of the SEC, however, I feel like the SEC is down this year compared to the past couple of years. I see this is good for us having a weaker SEC which should mean more wins, however I also see how this could affect us negatively if we drop a couple of games we shouldn't in terms of RPI and SOS.

Didn't UF lose a stinker to some lower level team, too? Can't remember who.

It's been a nightmare start for the SEC in the non conference but we aren't alone in this issue. The Big 10, Big 12 and Pac 12 have also suffered some awful losses early. Plus don't forget about Duke getting beat at home by Stephen F Austin. A lot of it has to do with the parity in college hoops these days. There is no one or even two or three dominate teams this year in CBB. There are so many quality players out there these days that even the mid majors have one or two major D1 caliber players. Good thing about hoops over football is that one, two or even a few bad loses won't kill your season.

It looks bad for the SEC early season, but don't let it change your perception of how this season will go. Each game is going to be a battle for the Vols. Our offense isn't adept enough for us to blow the barn doors off many teams. We have an elite defense, but once SEC play starts these early season losses are going to be all but forgotten and it's going to take 110% effort each night to win games, especially on the road. Alabama is not very good, but we never play well in their arena.

What is it about Coleman that makes us suck playing there? It’s kinda like football in the Georgia Dome....I’ve never been so happy to watch a building fall.

Don't know much about Tulsa this season but they are a good program them beating Vanderbilt is not exactly an upset.

Good question. I'm not sure. But we've been really, really bad there over the past few trips. I'd chart Alabama as a 10-14 point win for Tennessee this year IF it was in TBA. But right now, it's a toss-up because it's on the road.
