Just thought I would pass along some tidbits of what I'm hearing down here in Birmingham this Monday morning.

1) Average Bama fan says we played a great game with great game plan.

2) Lane Kiffin is ok, but his dad is the true genius.

3) Slimebaum ACTUALLY said Kiffin seems to be building the program back to contender status (comment made in contrast to Chizik (sp?))

4) Callers to the Opening Drive (local am sports talk) who are Bama fans sound like they actually lost the game. Comments like 'How does Saban turn this around", "how do we fix our offense", etc. My personal favorite, a caller named 'Dawson" giving McCellroy (sp?) tons of grief and saying that if he can't get it done, he should be benched (ironic as McCellroy still has never lost a game as a starter). I mean if you didn't know the final score, you would have tuned in and thought Bama lost. The callers are ANGRY.
Callers are also livid that Saban didn't stick with the Wildcat on their drive deep into UT territory but whent to the passing game when they only needed a few yards for the TD. Sounds like they are admitting they were out coached, but they will never put it in those words.

5) An unbelievable comment from one of my Bama friends regarding the headphones: He thinks that they were working fine but that CLK pretended they were broken to deprive Bama of theirs. He said his in all seriousness with a straight face.

Conclusion: I thought today would be terribly depressing down here, but watching the discomfort and angst in Bama land is actually sort of entertaining. Uneasy sets the head that wears the crown as it were.

I spoke to tons of bammers and aubies last night at church and fall festival....Everyone of them said UT should've won and Kiffin outcoached Saban.
Tired of the should've and almosts but at least the program seems to be headed in right direction

This part makes no sense. Why would we fake not having headsets for 1 play? Kind of pointless.

Might sting just a little that UT didn't let them in the end zone in their own stadium. Probably hurt their pride that the Tennessee defense upstaged the vaunted Bama defense. In the end they won though and they should feel very lucky to still be undefeated.

Kiff said on his show how ironic it was they stopped working just as UT was going on field for Defense and started working as bammer went on for D.

His dad didn't have anything to do with the fact that we were able to move the ball consistently for the entire second half on what was supposed to be the #1 defense in the country. With an OL full of walk-ons and a QB that most Vol fans were ready to ride out on a rail three weeks ago.

Monte's a great defensive coach, obviously, but it seems pretty clear that his kid can coach a little offense.

Yeah, the moral victory that many of my bammer coworkers say we won doesnt really take the sting out of the loss, but I am very optimistic about the next few years.

It's a defense mechanism IMHO. If you spend every day since signing day claiming CLK is a IDIOT, you have to have some graceful way of admitting you were wrong without saying it. Does that qualify as rationalizing? I'm not sure of the clinical definition.:dance2:

I've got a neighbor, who flies a small Alabama flag during football season, beleive me he has a supply of them. they are about 2 by 3. He is so upset that it's at half mast this morning. Made my day. I'll have to go over later and tell him I'm there on suicide watch.

There is not an 8-0 team in the nation who's fans are so miserable this morning. Glad we could make that happen at least!

Angst in Bama Land is always a good thing.

Back to item number 5. This is actually as brilliant as it is stupid. It brings to mind the most incredible spin doctors of our time.......wrestlers and preachers but I'll focus on wrestlers for the time being. The "bad" guys always have a different interpretation of the truth. Remember in wrestling, how the good guy would win for 10 minutes and out comes the concealed bar of soap to bring victory to the undeserving. Better yet was the subsequent interview where the fraudster laments the bad eyesight of his opponent and offers to drive him to the optometrist on Monday, just to help the guy out.

In the liar's creed, the first line of defense is always denial. Oxymoron of the day is credibility and Bama.

It seems like everytime we play somebody, win or lose, the next day all of there fans are angry and upset over being outcoached. Good signs.

What I have seen after both the Florida and Alabama game is their fans and coaches are shell shocked. Both teams thought they were going to roll over the Vols. Watch the Meyer and Saban post game news conferences. Both coaches looked like they had lost the game and were making excuses. Truth is, they were out coached. I loved seeing that.

A friend called this morning, a Kentucky fan, he stated he hated to admit it, but he sees a dynasty in the making. I think the other coaches and fans see that as well. Can you imagine what is going to be like in a couple of years? The whole SEC is thinking that!

Go Vols!

Absolutely what I have been thinking. I can't wait for the rest of the season and the years to come!

If 'Loosa is Mordor, does that make Layla Kiffin Arwen?

In all seriousness, this was the most exciting game I've seen in my 10 years of watching Vol football. I can't remember the last time I was jumping up and down screaming into the TV like that. I almost went into cardiac arrest when we recovered the onside, and I'm only 20 years old. We are restoring this program, and that is a HUGE deal considering this time last year, we were going down a path that looked to turn us into a Kentucky or Vanderbilt for a long while. Much deserved cred to our staff and our players; especially the players. They've gone through such lows, but have still charged into the black and played with heart.

The magic is back! Go Vols!

Well, from a Bama fan! I think we played terrible! The play calling was terrible, especially calling those passing plays down in the 5 yard line.. Think we need to look at the QB situation? Is McElroy the man or do we need to give someone else a try? Don't know, I'll leave that up to the coaching, but we definitely need some changes! Tenn. played a great game taking nothing away from you, but we shouldn't have let it even come down to a FG try to win the game for Tenn. Yes, it was a disappointing victory.......Thats my take for what is worth.
Great Game Again!
