South Carolina and Auburn are racing to fire coaches to go out and get Hugh Freeze. UT is unwilling to pay the buyout at this time and would never go for Freeze. How cool would it be if Pruitt cleared house on many of the assistants and coordinators to show that we will not accept mediocrity at Tennessee and brought in Coach Boom on South Carolina’s dime. What if he brought on Gus as the new OC, Chad Morris as the new quarterbacks coach and Rodney Garner to fill the open DL coach position with Auburn offsetting the cost. These guys are friends and run in the same circles. What if instead of going to the Saban coaching rehab program they joined together and formed the coaching staff that could beat him. Also with the one time transfer rule we could close the talent gap nearly overnight. Not saying that it’s likely or ever a possibility but it would be pretty awesome!

They arent going to hire Hugh Freeze. I wish they would but they aren’t. They also aren’t going to pay any big name right now. If they fire Pruitt and hire another Dooley what have they accomplished? If they aren’t going to fire CJP this year they might as well make him give up a little control and try to make something like this happen. These guys are influential enough their blue chip guys would follow them into the one time transfer. They also have a better concept of X’s and O’s. Maybe between the two or three of them they will have enough situational awareness to finish the job.

Like competent athletic departments, Auburn and USC actually put offset agreements in their coach's contracts. Gus and Malzahn wont be OC or DC til the buyout $$$ is gone

We will hold on to pruitt until he brings us down so low that fans seriously threaten a massive boycott. By then, no real coaches will be available and we will hire another Google coach or an up and comer... unproven either way. The coach worshippers will talk us how great the hire is, the Negas will point out the past mistakes in hiring and how this is doooley/Butch/pruitt 3.0

When the guy driving the boat can’t drive....your probably going to crash.

It don’t matter who the navigator and first mate are.

We wait too long, all good coaches are gone, we end up hiring Muschamp, Armageddon ensues

Boom's buyout right now is 16 mil.....Gus around 14 mil. Don't think they are going anywhere soon

This seems far fetched however since we won’t change head coaches after this year a redo of his staff is our only hope. I hope he gets aggressive with it and gets newer styled OC and some coaches that can develop.

I don't think it's a slam dunk that the SEC allows Freeze to return to the league. Two years ago, they blocked two different schools from bringing him in as an OC. Remember, the commissioner has to sign off on any coach that has had NCAA penalties being hired by a league school.

Look if we’re pretty sure 2020 has begun the distraction of all man kind......why does it matter?

Heck just fire him, hire whoever you want for any amount......make sure to write a check though.

Shoot I done bought two Cadillac’s.

They may not. But he is the hottest name on the coaching board and they also will not want him in the Big10 or ACC with an easier road to the playoffs with his history of beating BAMA.

Watch Bama bring him in as a new OC and name him coach in waiting.

I have no doubt we will do nothing while others improve. It’s the Tennessee way.

UT football under this admin/Pruitt is akin to a patient who's brain dead and on life support. It's over, the rest of the body just hasn't gotten the message yet.

UT hasn't made a splash coaching hire since the 1970's.

It isn't going to happen now.
And it took Johnny 8 years to win the SEC, then he had a couple of off years before he choked some big games with some of our best teams ever. In this day and age our 1985 never would have happened nor would the 90s. We would have never been good again.

I say we hire Urban Meyer. Tennessee would be in the CFP talk by year 3 easy.

Too much ego in Knoxville and with guys like Muschamp or Malzahn for them to bring in former head coaches as coordinators.

And with the money it would take to lure in someone like that, they may as well throw 12 million at the good Stoops or Meyer and do a ground up rebuild.
