What if Lance was promoted?

Hard to say. We have 4* talent virtually everywhere on defense, yet average offenses have career days versus our D. It has to be a coaching deficiency on some level.

Some geek at a computer who never played a down of football may have ranked these guys 4* but I doubt many SEC coaches think they are.

Lance Thompson isn't DC material.

Dooley changing his defensive system by hiring a 3-4 DC when we have our talented offense and him being on the "hot seat" infuriates me. He cost us, himself, and those players this season because of this irresponsible decision.

It really doesn't even matter that the new DC had or didn't have any experience as a coordinator. The blunder was switching schemes when he didn't have room to gamble.

This blunder by itself doesn't warrant him another season.
