What if Fulmer isn't fired? What happens next year? I can't see this team being any better next year. Same players, same coaches, same schemes. Tougher schedule. Even if he wins out this year which isn't likely. It'll still be more of the same next year. Surely Hamilton is looking farther ahead than just this season. If not, he needs to.

What will the attendance at Neyland be next year if Fulmer returns.

It's a good question. Some people are banking on the hope that UTK fans really are a bunch of ignorant inbreds who will slavishly fork over their donations and renewals without question. We may get to see if that is true.

If Fulmer is back next year, I wont be attending anymore games and will not be buying anymore UT merchandise. The only way we will be great again will be if Fulmer is fired.

It really is amazing how some fans are. They think we still owe Phil something for 98 even if that means watching the program go down the crapper for the next ten years. It is like they are more concerned with loyalty than winning. Loyalty is great, but at what cost?

I have no doubt that Fulmer will be gone. It's just my opinion, but too many people want it to happen. I am only curious about when and how - I prefer it not to be a public, messy firing, but either way, his time is up.

I think the Vols would improve slightly next year because: Clawson will know going in that he must teach fundamentals as well as scheme; Foster won't fumble; Stephens can, in fact, hit the broad side of a barn; and Berry will be playing for draft position. However, we would win no more than 7-8 games. Sad thing is, that much improvement might keep the current staff there for another year...

That is one of the big reasons I believe a coaching change is imminent; the team isn't getting better, game after game, or year after year. I was more tolerant of our lack of meaningful success over the past few years than many on this board because there was evidence to indicate that we were on the cusp of being a very good team. Tight losses to Florida and LSU and big wins over Georgia at least gave an excuse for optimism.

There is no longer any reason believe that we might, in the future, be any more than what we have been for the past seven years: a program that, with some good breaks, wins the Outback Bowl, and with some bad breaks, repeats '05. That is a full step below where Tennessee can be.

If he comes back, I think Fulmer is just asking for things to get worse on him. Think about next year after we go down to Florida and we get slaughtered like everyone is expecting. And that's assuming we beat Western and UCLA to open the season.

If he's back, he better make it his life's mission to beat Florida.

Looking at the schedule, Fulmer is probably just hoping to hold on for dear life til next season, because next year's schedule looks a ton easier. 8 home games, with at least 3 of the 4 non-conference games being pretty much cupcakes if not all 4 (depending if UCLA improves). Florida and Alabama are on the road, but we get Auburn, Georgia, and South Carolina at home. I know things change, but looking at that schedule even a slightly improved UT team should go at least 9-3. And obviously that's what Fulmer is hoping, because doing that would get him the "improvement" he needs. Even though we would still lose our 3 biggest games.

I've already said that I'm not flying back for anymore football games (typically make between 1 and 3 a year) until there is a regime change. Additionally, I will only contribute to the Business school, not the VASF until there is a regime change. These actions are the only real power that the common fan has, and I'll use that power.

Also, I could unequivocally guarantee that I will have never been less excited for a football season than I would be for 2009 under Fulmer.

I wish Fulmer would resign with dignity, he could still salvage a great legacy that way. I'm not sure if he fully grips the fact that his image in the eyes of the fanbase has deteriorate to the extent that it has... or that 99% of the fanbase value the program more than they value him.

I'll save some money. All the VASF will get from me is the bare minimum required to keep my tickets. I'll then give my tickets to fans of the opposing team each week.

i'll puke, email hamilton everyday for a month or two with my disgust, won't go to any games, or buy any merchandise

With my luck, fulmer upsets bama and keeps his job.

Ya know its getting to the point where we hope on losing rather than see Fulmer come back. What a joke our program has become and it is a direct result of our administration. They should have fired him years ago and now our program is in shambles. This program needs to start over from the top all the way down to the bottom. I really appreciate Hamilton for hiring Pearl, but other than that hes been a waste of an AD. When you put your friendship before your job that should automatically get you fired.
