Sigh. I hate the "what if" game. What if we held Florida on 4th down in 2006. We'd have gone on to play in the SECCG, and Florida never would have won the national title. They probably would not have recruited as well, and coach PF would still have a job.

Huh?

Can't blame Rick Clausen for that one, that was all Erik Ainge's fault.

And Casey is the most underrated QB in Tennessee history by miles.
Can't say I agree with that. You see now that he really wasn't even as good as Ainge. Ainge looks like he may actually make a career out of football. Clausen was terribly unathletic but was surrounded by some great talent.

If Simms decide not to commit, Ken Dorsey would have came to UT and been the starter for 4 yrs. Meaning that UT would have not stress over QB's in 2000 and on. UT would have not recruited Clausen and Tennessee would not have the Clausen clan in their minds, i.e Jimmy. This is only hypothetical, but Tennessee football would've been in a different place. Good or Bad

What, exactly, does Ainge's pro career have to do with his time at the University of Tennessee?

Casey Clausen racked up wins in Gainesville, Tuscaloosa, Miami, and South Bend. Ainge can't make any of those claims.

So, what if Eli went to UT instead of Ole Miss?

What if Spurrier went to UT instead of UF. (oops, John Adams had an article on that a few years back. He carried it out a lot further than 4 years)

Clausen was a great QB and Im glad he came here. I doubt he would have come just to compete with 2 QB's already in the system. All had to do is, compete against Matthews, Suggs, Rattay.

What if, what if! We most likely would have been a middle of the road team just like we have been this decade, without coach Cut CPF was lost on the offensive side of the ball. Heck we could have had E. Manning and it wouldn't have made much of a difference.

What if we signed Adrian Peterson, Randy Moss, Ed Reed, Julius Peppers, Glen Dorsey, A.J. Hawk, LaDanian Tomlinson, Larry Fitzgerald, Calvin Johnson....eh, you get the point. We woulda been a damn fine team, probably good enough for fatman to keep his job. But let's not live in the past folks :good!: We've got a great staff now and we're on the right track it seems
