It really burns me up. BG took a bench full of McDonald's AA and loses to the likes of San Diego, Garner Webb, and Houston, and ends up being coach of the year in the SEC. Is the award only for SEC games? I knew the other coaches were not fond of Pearl but I didn't realize how much. Where can we find their names?
I WANT THE TRUTH!! AND YES, I CAN HANDLE IT.

The truth, Jimmy, is that BCG didn't really have a bench full of McD AA. And when UK was losing to GarDner Webb, he had 2 of his main rotation players out due to injury.

Maybe you didn't notice, but San Diego isn't that bad. They just beat Gonzaga.

Maybe you didn't notice that coach Pearl lost to BCG once this season, too. With UT's loaded roster, Pearl BETTER do as well as he did this year. The award is based on coaching, really. Billy Clyde went 11-2 after starting 6-7, with 7 players in the rotation. That's pretty darn good.

I'm not taking away from anything your team did this season, but as far as coaching, I can see a case for them sharing the award.

the reality is that BCG has yet to win anything in the SEC. Shouldnt the coach of the year be cutting down a net?

Clyde lowered the expectations himself, then started winning. There is no way he deserved the award.

It is a Mr. Congeniality Award. As long as Bruce is beating the other coaches, they are not likely to vote for him. If it was based on ability and coaching skill, he would have won it handsdown.

Don’t forget that 4 coaches voted for neither. I want to know who they are and who they voted for.

In Billy Clyde's defense had two previously designated McDonalds AA who were still around for their senior season. Translation: they have both played so incosistently throughout their careers that neither has had an opportunity to play in the NBA.

In the defense of UT fans that are upset about sharing the reward, I can promise you that if this was a successful KY coach sharing the honor with a UT coach in a rebuilding year that the fur in the Wildcat nation would be flying.

The plain fact of the matter is that both of the coaches involved are much more concerned with the SEC and NCAA tournament than they are about an award that is "voted on" rather than won on a basketball court.

....as he should have been. These are his underacheiving McDonald's AAs.
Still, there record is what it is. I'm not saying BCG can't recruit better and won't have a great team in the future, but all he did was have an average season...

Vanderbilt and Florida would kill for his 12-4 SEC record. That is a better than average SEC season, especially considering that Tubby was 9-7 in the SEC last year.

the SEC was down a little this year, but his SEC record is pretty impressive esp considering what he had to work with this year

Coach of the Year should be on the body of work for the ENTIRE YEAR. Not just when you finally convince people to play the way you want them to. Kentucky coaches and players get breaks just like this because they are Kentucky.

I can guarantee you Vandy wouldn't kill for an 18 win season over their 25 win season.

The coaches that paid attention to Kentucky's SEC record. Lex, it'll be ok. The Vols are going to make a deep run in the tourney. Most likely to the final 4. COY awards is an honor in of it's self, and for Bruce to have it, although shared, should not be looked down upon based on that.

Vols run deep, Kentucky likely out early. This is what matters.

Florida's (and Tennessee's) 15 minutes of fame are over. The pendulum, as it always does, has swung back.

New coach, new attitude, new team coming very soon - same Old Venerable Kentucky. Across the face of time, UK will always be supreme, day in, day out.

Hope our Orange wearing rivals to the south - both of them, have made the most of their 15 minutes.

Go Blue!!!!
