1) Grandmother's Can Make the Big Decision.

2) Religion is as good in Football Recruiting as it is in Politics

3) We are back on the Road to Success

4) It will take longer than we want to turn this around.

5) There are still more recruits on the horizon for this years class.

6) We stole two players from FL.

7) There are several recruits that would give their Right/Left nuts or both to be Tennessee Vols.

8) In less than a month secured a top 25 (at least) recruiting Class. Will be higher on the quality scale.

9) Strength and Conditioning continues and player's attitudes are beginning to change for the better.

10) We have a hell of a coaching staff and we can do more with less. Soon our football cups will runneth over.

11) Most fans still excited about Spring and Season Kick Off.

12) Started recruiting for 2010 a month ago.

13) Sometimes we just have to accept it. "Some players do not Fit."

14) Brown will not be as missed as I thought he would and Oku should be begging to be a Vol. Its not the end of the world if neither them Stokes, Phillips or several others earn the right to run through the "T". The job of the coaches and players will be to ensure that they regret not coming here to be a part of it.

? We had one before the firing as well. I'm fairly sure most expected a top 25 class.

We cannot say for sure, the year before went from 20th to 39th. Reason to believe that if CPF had been retained the question of when he was going to be fired might have lingered on recruits minds. I know he would not have secured MB.

We would have been even high without a coaching change... Giles + Oku.. two very highly rated prospects. 4-5 others as well... we gained about 2 we wouldn't have though. That said - we should expect to lose a few recruits with a coaching change. Nothing new - gotta doeal with it.

I think using religion may be good in the short term or with particular recruits, but using it could also backfire by eroding integrity and raising ethical questions. There are a lot of religions out there.

I think we were 9th to 11th when Fulmer was let go...

I do not know if he would have held the commitments with the record, the offense, and a pending firing. If he did hold them then it may have a class of under achievers.

Whether cfp could recruit wasn't really a question. But he never developed them. Nfl always was saying how tn players had the talent but weren't prepared for the next level.
The new staff looks like they might be able to change that!

Great thread. I don't want to become known as someone who is negative at all, but I want to say this.

I hope to hell our coaches can actually COACH.

That's going to be the difference between Fulmer's staff and this staff.

Of course recruiting better players increases your odds of success, but Xs and Os are going to be the difference maker (along with killer instinct).

I love Tennessee as much as anyone, but I would rather have 2 testicles than suit up.

I'd also add that evaluating talent could be a strength. The whole 3*-5* system is by no means fool proof. These are high school athletes evaluated across the country by individuals who make one helluva a lot less than the lowest paid member on this coaching staff.

We've seen enough top 5 classes at UT to know that the stars are not perfect.

One exception... Eric Berry is the most underrated 5* athlete to have ever roamed the earth. Nobody who signed with any team today is better than the one we have leading ours!

Give 'em hell, EB! Break these guys in right, so a couple years down the road when you get a Sunday off, you can enjoy seeing them win.

D should be fine with Monty and "O"
Just hope the offensive staff comes together
Reaves is by far the biggest question mark

I don't get where people keep coming up with the idea that with PF here we would still have a top 10 class......Fulmer had a lot of early commits but I can guarantee you that he would not have been able to pull in the FL WR's or some of the linemen that we got today. The only reason we were so high then is because of the number of early commits while other schools were not as fortunate. If Pf were still here we would probably be the same or lower rating then we are now. Kudos to CLK and staff for attempting the impossible. Inroads are laid for next year and now the coaching begins. If our qb's are as good as their ratings say, they should be fine with appropriate coaching and hopefully we'll look back on this negativity and laugh.:peace2:

I think you're overstating that a bit. He was brought in for recruiting, not so much for coaching.

Chaney will do well. Look what he was able to do with Purdue for god's sakes...
