Even before it was offical with Monte, Lane was getting rave reviews from H.S coaches here in TN. Players do listen to their coach for advice. They look for....

How soon they can play
Exposure on the national level (bowls, TV)
Coaches making them a better player and person
Tradition

Players have dreams of going to that next level in the NFL and we've got coaches who've been there and done it. As far as I know we may have the only one that can flash a SB ring which is the peak of football.

The Gator fans are starting to sound a bit nervous over all these high profile hirings We have been doing lately...About all they are talking about besides the BCS title game in which I hope and pray they get demolished in...Remember, Tebow won´t be there forever, and when he´s gone, Urban and UF football returns to being a 7-5, 8-4 at best football team...Seriously, If not for Tebow, UF fans would already be screaming for Urbans head...Enjoy the ride while its smooth because bumpy roads are ahead...Happy New Year

Again, I think you are quite uninformed. My post didn't talk about what happened "10 years ago." It was "over the past 10 years." There is no question we had plenty of NFL talent over that time span, the problem was that CPF was not getting nearly enough production as he should of out of his talented players (see Brandon Warren this year).

There is no question we needed a coaching change starting a few years ago. But it has not nearly as much to do with the talent we brought in as much as how we coached that talent.

So again, your first post rings untrue. I will also have to agree with Volger that if you want to say that 90% of people agree with you, you should add "90% of posters on here under the age of 10...."

:eek:k:

When you say "over the past 10 years" in reference to the amount of NFL talent we've pumped out, you're talking about 01' and before. You look at the statistics from 02'-present, which is clearly MOST of those 10 years and Tennessee is nowhere near the top of that list.

Bottom line is that the statement about being on par with Miami and FSU is a statement that DID use over 5 years ago. Using it now is just like talking about our success "over the past 10 years", which is meaningless at this point and the success throughout that time all came at the beginning of it, not at the end.

We've been below average at putting players in the NFL for many years. It isn't like it isn't common knowledge. And you're right, it's because Fulmer and Co. haven't developed more than those that were just plain busts. But again, living off of what we did 3 of those 10 years sounds like you're reaching for what we used to be.

Unless of course you're uninformed about the lack of talent we've put out recently. Perhaps you just view Justin Harrell as a 1st round draft pick instead of someone who has barely seen the field in his time in the NFL so far.
