If I recall from his senior highlights he was a big bruising back who ran straight up the middle and seemed to be a very good downhill runner.

He's still listed as one of of larger if not largest backs (@217) and was an EE. Anyone with inside info know what has happened to him?

He is still recovering from mono. The season is too far gone for him to get back up to speed now. Might as well redshirt him.

Would like to redshirt someone for once. We got ML,RN,DY,TS, n qw?

I think Neal has done some pretty good things, and he has been much better from the 2 back sets vs. the pistol IMO. I wish Chaney would run more 2 back sets with Neal. Lane and Young are change of pace backs and not the run up the middle type backs we need, although Lane has had a couple of nice runs up the middle. Someone with Hill's size and style could really open up the running game up the middle it seems. Smith could be another player similar to Hill, but haven't seem much from him in 2 years now.

We just need to GET Derrick Green and all will be good in the world in terms of our running game next year if Doolz is still here.

I take it that Tom Smith is a lost cause at this point at running back. Why not convert him to a position that we could use help at?? Or does he not possess the athletic ability to do something else?

I don't put much stock in those Michigan, Ohio or Illinois recruits. Have you noticed that 95% of the time, those guys don't work out?
Arnett left (Michigan) Milton left (Illinois) O Brien is not playing (Michigan) Hill is not playing,

95%? Go back and actually run the numbers. There's no way it is that high.

Yeah, he 'bout got killed last year. That was another reach by the coaching staff. Not all that I'm afraid. And being so short, not sure what other position he can play.
