Once Alabama loses Saban they will go back to being mediocre like the better part of the 90s and early 2000s. Thankfully we may be starting to see the beginning of the end for him.

VOLS win out. Gatas and bama beat uga. Vols win the east. Vols kick the shat outa bama for the 2nd time. That simple. Next.

You really believe this?
Why wouldn't Bama regress to the mean after Saban leaves? May take a few seasons. But you cant just snap your fingers and find another greatest college coach of all time?

He’s not leaving that paradise of a conference to go play against top 10 teams every other week. He’s setup perfectly right where he’s at. The only thing I see him doing is he may get bored after a couple more championships and go to the NFL to try something new.

I'm willing to bet Bama is already working on a succession plan. Once the Powers That Be at Bama got sick of losing they set their sights on Saban and backed up the Brinks truck and gave him everything to "get it done!" UT, and most other schools, take a "Shoot, Ready, Aim" approach and hope it works out.

It may not work out for Bama after Saban retires but I would bet they will have a plan. And no, I don't think it will be Dabo. Why leave Clemson? He has a relatively easy pass to the playoffs given the current state of the SEC and ACC.

What's the cliche...you don't want to follow the legend, you want to follow the guy that followed the legend?

I agree. I just think our peers (Bama & UF especially) will do what is necessary to be/ or stay on top. Former UF AD Jeremy Foley had a saying, "What should be done eventually must be done immediately." I have a feeling Bama is on that same page and will pull the trigger if the next hire isn't working out.

I agree with that. Bama will not be interested in a long term experiment. They will want immediate results and continuity.
But hiring "the guy" is not as easy as plug-n-play. Harbaugh in Mi was a sure thing. Herman at Texas. Jimbo at TAMU. Et al.
The most sure-fire guy out there right now is Urban. Hes not coming to Bama. Of course, once Saban retires the landscape will look much different than it does today.

Great points. I remember having lunch on Siesta Key with some OSU friends back in '12 and they asked if they made the right hire with Urban. I simply said he will bring SEC speed to Ohio St and they will win the conf. almost every season. That would be interesting if he came back to the SEC. He's only 56.

The Eyes of Texas are upon him (Urban). Totally serious.

He went to the big 10 cause it's a cake walk at osu and you have to be an idiot not to win big there. The school is totally invested in their program unlike our stupid ad and they play no one.

He will never come back here to the sec.

Its dabo or bust for them and it's coming sooner than later.

But we are still decades from sec title.

They go 2 and 10 before we win again I am afraid
