I haven’t seen anything since Currie was fired. Do we know if he is still interested? What has happened since yesterday, and the day before?

He will not be a candidate. Currie went rogue with Leach against the advice of Davenport which led to yesterday.

You should think of Leach as having never been on the table.

Currie hasnt been fired.

Semantics. Fired, suspended, castrated, however you want to view it he is out. And deservedly so. He orchestrated the absolute worst coaching search in the history of college football without question. It’s hard to believe guy that smart could be so stupid

Unfortunately Currie was the one that was going to get Leach. I don’t think Fulmer has interest in him, he wants a UT guy. (Tee)

While I’m disappointed and think Leach would win here and be a lot of fun, I think Fulmers approach could pay off better in the long run.

The only good thing he did was try to get Leach. But apparently he didn’t have permission to hire an actual good coach so that was the straw that broke the camels back I guess. Ironic, but apparently true.

Can you see Fulmer working with Leach? Can you see leach being receptive to input from Fulmer? Can you see ISIS making peace with the US and Israel?

True. I think Tee is prob the only guy Fulmer will even consider. And in the long run we could do worse. At the moment we could also do better, but given the recent events we better just get this done and get to licking our wounds.

This is why Tee is his choice. He likes the guy, but with a rookie HC then Fulmer will have many many “input” opportunities.

I was all up on Leach. But as other says, him with Fulmer seems like oil and water. Fulmer preferred Doeren to him. I wish we could get back in with Brohm, but I can see that happening either. I think he is waiting on Steele. Sad to say, but dream hires at this point, best we can hope for is Sumlin or Morris.

I agree, however thats an important detail with the title of the thread. We wont here anything about it right now because he has been suspended with pay instead of being fired. UT cant comment as they investigate firing him for cause. Its likely once this get wrapped up we will hear what happened.

While Leach would be fun to watch he would lock horns day one with the Admin/boosters and probably the reporters.

I can see it now, calling Bev a fat little girl :)

No need to drag the Jewish community into this discussion.

Leach, and his pirate theme, would not represent the image that Phil & Bev want for our flagship University.

Fulmer blew it up

Getting a good coach that the fan base could get behind is a fireable offense

IMHO it's Tee's job if he really wants it...doubt Leach will get another look...actually believe Coach Fulmer wants Orange Bleeders in here now...:)

It’s funny, we seem to me to me a bunch of blind squirrels who finally found our nut with the dread pirate leach, only to toss it aside for an ancient great pumpkin. Only one problem, squirrels don’t eat pumpkins...

Leach is done. It will be a UT guy as OC or DC or the head coach. Much more orange blood on coaching staff.

I'm afraid that Fulmer will ignore Leach and go with a former Vol that either:

1. Has a sucky record as a head coach and is probably too old anyway (Steele)
2. Is too old and doesn't really want to be here but might feel pressure to com back anyway (Cutcliff)
3. Is a very promising young coach but has nowhere near enough experience to lead a program like Tennessee especially considering it needs to be lead out of the turmoil it's currently in (Tee Martin)

Let's hope that's not the case. Anyone can look at Alabama as a case study. Once they got over the notion that their head coach had to had some tie to Bear Bryant, they got Saban. The rest is history. Most of the time the best person for a job is not in the "family."

The last thing we need is to trot out Leach to compete and recruit against Mullen, Smart, and Muschamp year in and year out.

Sounds like a great idea.
