Has anyone else seen our freshman on the field?

They have had NO impact on the field this year.

All of our redshirt freshmen except Cody Pope and Tyler Maples have seen some game action, but only one (Art Evans) has played in more than one game. Those who participated only against UAB: Ahmad Paige, Chris Donald, Anthony Anderson, BJ Coleman, Donald Langley, and William Brimfield. Josh Hawkins got his first game experience against NIU while Daryl Vereen hasn't played since the UCLA game.

Can someone explain this to me?

All of them cant be that bad, can they?

Phil works on a seniority basis. You must pay your dues first.

If the guys were ready they would be playing! Contrary to popular belief Fulmer will play freshman.

GJ, EB, CW, BM, DR, DM, DM, DL, and that's just the Fr that played last year. Truth is very few Fr or even RS Fr are good enough to pass Jr's and Sr's in physical positions like OL, DL, LB, TE, etc. Three years in a CFB weight training program will due wonders to a 20 years old's body. WR, RB, and DB are a different beast.

How can any freshman not be ready to step in and play for a team that got beaten down by a sorry UCLA team, won over a weak, weak UAB team, creamated by the Gators (could have been worse),lost to a non-offensive Auburn team, barely got by a weak Northern Illionois team. The odds are any freshman could have stepped in and played and improved our chances of winning. It's not like we are undefeated. Fulmer is saving them for his job security when all the recruits he is/will be trying to bring in refuse to play for a losing, or rather poorly ran program, top to bottom,Hamilton-Fulmer.

Really didn't see or hear many making any noise. I mean Prentiss Wagner that's it. Really wouldn't mind seeing him play more.

Our problems stem from the qb to the interior lines. We don't have any john henderson's in waiting over there i don't think. We finally put a different qb in. No fred weary's or cosey coleman's either. Were thin on talent fella's, especially where it counts, in the lines. You can have all the athletes in the world, but laying on their backs, they can't help you.

Why would freshman be on the field??? Don't you remember our recruiting class sucked??? The top recruits from TN are wearing Crimson and White this year. We did not have an influx of talent. We are on the decline.
And it is only going to get worse.....

What I was thinking?

It will be interesting to see these freshman when their 4 years are done. I bet they turn out just as good as the vaunted '05 and '07 classes.

CPF just said a couple of weeks ago that he will no longer redshirt Freshmen. We'll see if he stands by that statement. History will probbly show that Phil's just flapping at the jaw. This statement came after the loss to UF I believe.

He said he would no longer redshirt them if they were ready to contribute.

In fulmer's defense.... god i can't believe im saying this... if they are not ready to play physically/mentally they should not be starting. Just because someone is a 5 star does not guarantee them a starting job immedately when they arrive on campus, especailly in the SEC. Alot of people really seem to underestimate just how big a jump it is from going from high school to SEC level football.

That's assuming of course he's here long enough for us to make an observation on the matter.

Having said that there's precious little evidence that Fulmer won't play Fr if he thinks they have what it takes. There's simply too many glaring examples that refute the assertion that Fulmer will just sit on talent. A better case could be made that, at least in some cases, (Creer perhaps?) he could make greater use of some of that talent.

Yeah, I'm not happy about the Creer situation. Oh and Slick Shelley (or Shelly) is doing pretty decent at Tulsa.

Creer is a great back, and I have faith in him, but to decry Foster's fumbles and ignore Creer's is an amazing effort in selective memory.
