I dont think too many schools do the head coach in waiting anymore. The NCAAs rule placed same recruiting visit restrictions on HCiW as the current HC. NCAA did that because schools rightfully complained about Muschamp and Brown at Texas going into tons of houses telling kids that coach turnover wont be an issue since you know who is next. After rule was put in place wasnt long and Muschamp bolted for Florida. So HCiW is one thing I wouldn't do unless it was a deal breaker of getting Jon Gruden.
