What ever happened to the semi-league that was going to start up? There were tryouts in Knoxville. It was for the former players that had got a shot but fizzled out?

According to wikipedia on the AAFL:

"The League's finances have been indirectly tied to the $300 billion federally guaranteed student loan asset backed securities market. In August, the sub prime mortgage crisis began spreading into other sectors such as municipal bonds and federally guaranteed student loans. The situation, which was considered to be temporary at the time, has continued to worsen. Despite the fact that the Federal Reserve has repeatedly lowered interest rates during this financial crisis, their efforts have not yet restored liquidity in many asset backed markets, including municipal bonds and student loans."

You will never hear of this league again.

Imagine that. Something Doug Dickey was heavily involved in was a poorly conceived sham. Shocking.

Also a coincidence that the AAFL was supposed to give UTAD $3 million a year for use of their facilities, and that once they folded, that the UTAD suddenly became short on $3 million in revenues (which propmeted them to raise prices on student tix from free to $15 per game)...

But oh, I forgot... we can't put 2 and 2 together. There is no connecton between the two...

Anyone that saw this idea on paper, then had a conversation about it with the people running it, and still put 3 Mil of future revenue on the financial forecast ....Is an aborto and should be immediately fired.

I seriously doubt anyone at the University was betting on this money and seriously doubt this was the reason for the student tix price increase.

Keep in mind that these are the same geniuses that gave Fulmer a raise and an extension when he was not a coach at his prime, a coach not in danger of going anywhere, or a coach that was not in high demand on the open market.

There is too much of a coincidence for me not to believe that they didn't factor in this $3 million....
