Saw the guy llike two years ago hangin' out in downtown Nashville with a couple of tool bags at Broadway Brewhouse. He wasn't in what one would call football shape then. He looked...calm...and weak. A buddy of my played high school ball with him at Red Bank and said that he cried when he got hit. (of course as a freshman) Watched him in the State Championship against Riverdale in the snow... just wasn't that impressed. Love the BIG ORANGE but always thought the guy was overrated.

I always thought the running back from Riverdale was 5 times better than him anyway..Ralph King..He went to MTSU and they tried to make him a dback and I don't think he ever even got on the field..

He's a classic case of a player that should have left early. When his stock was high after his junior year he should have jumped.

He's on the radio in Chattanooga every Thursday during CFB season I believe. Talks about the SEC and stuff.

I grew up with a guy who was the same way growing up. He lasted quite a few seasons at UT and in the NFL

He was on the Sports Sheep a few weeks back and the Lions are interested in him. He was going there for a workout.

I have heard that Gerald likes the hippie lettuce.

He's on Sporttalk in Chattanooga on Thursday's during football season. He's awful. Every sentence goes something like this, "Well, I saw him uh uh uh uh uh, when he played at uh uh uh uh UGA." Your ears will bleed from listening.

I like how everyone bashes former players who didnt live up to the hype. I would love to say that I was atleast on the squad team at tennessee, but I never was.

For real, I mean the kid did rush for 1000 yards in a season. That's worth something in the SEC.

Way better than listening to the other two buffoons on there imo.

Riggs is to be applauded for his commitment to the program--but he was a very heavily hyped prospect, and I watched him for two/three years at UT, looking for that talent to emerge--and it never did. He was an OK back, but not much beyond that.

speaking of local Chattanooga radio personalities, whatever happened to Parker Smith? I listened to him alot back in the 90's when he had his talk show.

Parker is out of the radio business-- he was quite entertaining and loved to push the envelope. Unfortunately, he pushed it too far on numerous ocassions.

that and a major case of how any injury that keeps you from working out for teams plummets your draft stock.

Um, do you remember his fellow RB Cedric Houston's post-game interview after the 2003 win at Miami?

Amounted to: "Coach told us to run hard and we ran hard."

Many athletes aren't necessarily the best public speakers or have the best way with words. They're not required to either.
