Several of our recruits are being scared due to other coaches negative recruiting about Hostessgate. They are being told that something major will happen to UT. In reality the only thing that can happen is some secondary violation which just means a letter in your file.

At the same time:

Auburn has been nailed with toilet papergate by rolling Toomer's Corner with recruits getting in the act. And Trooper Taylor was suspended from off campus recruiting due to his illegal tactics.

Michigan is under investigation for practicing more hours than the NCAA allows and failed to keep the required records which supports lack of institutional control.

Florida State is on probation due to academic cheating.

USC has been under a multi-year investigation with Reggie Bush, the Mayo kid in basketball, and more recently the McKnight situation with a mysterious vehicle that showed up in his driveway.

Alabama's latest is a current 2 year probation due a multi-sport textbook scandal. That is on the heels of several other major infractions and a close call with the death penalty. And there have been lots of comments on the boards about the unusual distribution of Escalades in the Tuscaloosa vicinity. I guess you have to have something the size of an Escalade to carry that load of books that everyone carries around down there.

None of these programs are missing out on anything. None of them are banned from bowls or TV. They may have given up a scholarship or two but that is it. They still can play for the national championship and receive revenue from their conference payouts.

My point is that UT suffers from selective media prosecution from the New York Times and ESPN. And kids should not worry about this propaganda being spewed by negative recruiting.

Even if they were to find something major and pull 1-2 free rides it would not make a difference in the program. With the condition that Fulmer left this program and the turnover in players we will not be able to hit the 85 scholarship limit for at least 2 years. And any other penalty would be over and beyond any penalty that NCAA has dished out for several years.

So, what does NCAA probation mean? And why would anyone worry about it? These kids may be scared this year, but this will change by next year.

UT has the best coaching staff in the country. We play in the best stadium and atmosphere in the country. We play in the best conference in the country. Our academic programs are on the rise nationally.

Be scared, very scared. Another year on the field will demonstrate just why UT is such a huge target by our competition. The coaching was excellent this year, but will be better next year. If we had a better OL and kicker this year Alabama would not be playing for a NC in a couple of days. That sound you are hearing is the whistle blowing and it is time to get on board.

For us it is just smoke and mirrors. Nothing is going to happen to us whatsoever because of this hostessees crap.

Willis has brought it up.

And Scroggins said that he was concerned with secondary violations before signing with ……… who?!?

Kids lie to support their decisions.

Actually, I think they just parrot what the other coaches are telling them, which makes it more fun for us fans. Scroggins didn't come up with that one his own, most likely one of the other coaches told it to him. Perhaps a certain coach that's now taking a leave of absence. It helps us get a feel for the negative recruiting that takes place.

The absurdity of signing with USC over UT because of secondary violations though is entertaining.
