This is what your realistic expectations are, not what you want him to do.

FWIW, I voted for an SEC East win.

I think he is going to be here for a while so I'm just gonna project the first 3 years.

Year 1.) 6-6 I think we will beat Oregon or LSU, but lose to someone we shouldn't like Memphis or Vanderbilt. Top 10 recruiting class.

Year 2.) 7-5 A little better, but still no where near we need to be. I think we'll be competitive with our main competition, maybe steal one from Florida or Bama. Another Top 10 recruiting class.

Year 3.) 10-2 Things will go our way that year, we get Florida and Bama at home, and we don't have to play Oregon. Top 5 recruiting class, with great things to come.

Multiple national championships. Some of y'all can be sad about the future all you want. I'll be excited for you.

Either it's going to be really, really good....or really, really bad. I don't see an in-between. I'm leaning (sadly) toward the really, really bad

Dooley will do just fine. It's gonna take a couple years to get some good players. It's gonna be rough for a year or two. Get ready. By year three we will be going in the right direction.

Hopeful expectations:

2010-6 wins and maybe a minor bowl

2011- 8-9 wins one against an elite school and at least some discussion of being in the East race with a solid bowl win to make 9-10 wins,

2012- compete seriously for the East beating UGA plus UF and/or Bama.

Realistic expectations: 6 wins, 5 wins, 7 wins... and leaves a solid base of talent and a desirable job for a highly touted repalcement.

I like the guy. I'm rooting for him. I think he's doing many things right. I simply do not believe the situation he inherited

I hate to point this out, but you left off an obvious option.
"3 and out"

What I expect from Dooley and crew is for the team to Continually show improvement from year to year. *They (coaching staff & players) should lay it ALL on the line each- and- every- game. *They should leave it all on the field. *In other words: ( I will give my all for Tennessee). They should play with heart AND class. In short, players and staff should represnt The University of Tennessee in a manner that reflects in a positive way.

Dooley should care more than Fulmer showed toward the end of his tenure. *His teams should look to dominate the other team, knock them down and KEEP them down, As Majors always said *"Attack, Attack, Attack, Always Attack."

As far as the poll goes, if we can get to the SEC championship consistently,....... *and win our share, we will be in the hunt for National championships as well. * **

I'm not sure what to expect yet. I like the guy. He seems very personable. I'm not quite sure about his coaching abilities yet, though. I hope he is a proven winner and stays for a long time though.

as long as we stay over .500 and get at least one SEC championship (which would most likely give us a shot at the NC) i'm happy.

First year 3-7, second year 4-8, third year 3-7. I have us pulling an upset in his 2nd year giving us 4 wins. Just kidding. I say we win 6 or 7 games this year, after that ????????

Any one here remember Majors first four years here? Just a reminder, 1.4-7,2. 5-5, 3. 7-5 and 4. 5-6. He didn't start to have success until after year 5. How many on this board are willing to let Dooley stick around if he has this kind of record?

With all due respect here, from everything I have heard or read about Dooley. He does not want to rest on the laurels a a famous father,or family for that matter. Unlike the mediocrity that is Lane Kiffin1

You are right. Because if my father was one of the ten best defensive minds alive I wouldn't want him on my staff either.

Ok,I'll give you Monte, he is a defensive guru, may I remind you he was 16-17 at NC State.. While Dooley's dad was 201-77-10 in college and further more his Uncle was 161-127-5 in college. Not stellar on Bill's part, but he did coach 3 schools and had a losing record at only one.

Like I said, I would rather be my own man then rest on what my father or family has done! What say you?
