What do you do when the AD and the Chancellor don't seem to share your passion?

I'd like to start by saying I'm like a lot of people on this board. I've been privy to all kinds of info in the last few weeks. This is info that has come from all parties involved in the coming decision.

Between what I've heard from the media and people that I trust, it seems like this program is at an impasse.

My only question in deciphering this info is this. What do you do when the University leaders don't seem to share a real passion for winning. The only effective answer I've seen occurred in Lex last Saturday.

You SHOW them that you are not going to support the football program until effort is made to improve the product on the field....Money talks and bulls**t walks when you hit them where it hurts "In the pocketbooks" then they have no choice than to make a change...They can not afford for that stadium to be half full every saturday.

It's a hard answer because you have to not show up on Saturday's to get the message across to them. I hate to advocate not supporting our team but it is far better to send a message now than to let things get worse.

Further than that, we need to be vocal in letting them know that we will not settle for a low rent replacement for Dooley just to satisfy us. Whatever it takes, we want the best opportunity to be a successful program. Going out and hiring some no name is not going to satisfy anyone this time.

Empty seats - period. Money talks. That's what it's all about over there anyway - other than massive egos.

AD separation from the local chancellor - will know that one this week. It is that way with the other land grant U's.

Sorry, but I don't see the AD giving the school one penny of income. The athletic programs fully support themselves and are some of the best publicity possible to encourage students to go there. Each unit should be stand alone that complements each other. Many of the kids that grow up going to see sporting events there end up wanting to go to school there. It costs the school nothing to market to those kids. The fans and boosters pay that bill.

I think we've seen this attitude for a long time Lex.. Butts in seats is why it took a shoehorn to get Fulmer out.. This mind set goes further up the ladder than the AD's office..

I am not a 'Canes sympathizer or anything but it is absolutely pathetic to see a stadium look like this give what a dominant program it once was.

I am afraid this is going to be the norm soon in Neyland Stadium if these morons don't wake up and fix this now. When someone is bleeding badly you have to stop it or they die. This is no different with our fanbase and the state of this program.

We have a head coach with a father who a long time Georgia coach.

We have an AD who came to us from Alabama

We have a chancellor who spent 34 years at Florida.



It is no wonder that we are so screwed up

This is beyond stupidity. I mean there is no way you can really believe this. First off, being in the SEC no matter how many people do or don't go to the game, we are still getting paid. Big reason people want in the SEC is the football money, they are still getting money. 2nd, just because Hart is not in front of every media outlet screaming "A change needs to be made, or is going to be made" doesn't mean they are not think, planning and scheming behind the scenes. As we all know, just because some "In the know" poster say "Gruden is coming on Monday," or, "Its official, Shannon has taken the job!!" means its going to happen. Let things play out. There is a reason they are in the position they are in and your a "big time" poster.

You sure know how to stir the pot don't you.:) I believe you are right pending the W-L by season's end.

These jugheads don't realize that not going to games won't help in paying a new coach, his staff and to payoff the present staff to leave. They still have the pipe dream that Gruden is going to ride in on a white horse for 2 years. We will, instead end up with another "up and comer" who would also be out in 2 years.

The AD and Chancellor both say, "Let Them Eat Cake!!!!"

Then we storm the stronghold and hold public Guillotine executions on PPV.

I don't think that is in the plan, but the current rumors indicate that they have both been running "interference" for him. There seems (note I said seems) to an impasse between the administration and the boosters. This week will be very telling.

UT really needs to look at the way Fla and GA's athletic departments are structured in relationship with their universities.

Those empty seats still equate to money and even bigger money as far as merchandise, the Knoxville economy, and in turn the booster money coming into the program.

I have decided that until major changes are made that I am not spending another dime on anything University of Tennessee. I am tired of our athletic department taking advantage of us.

Maybe true, however we do not have to compete with South beach, the Heat and Dolphins and a thousand other recreational opportunites and this stadium is not even on their campus, nor does it have an UM traditions like the old orange bowl.

I don't want to argue comparisons. You are correct. There is more to do in South Beach. You also need to consider how many people in Neyland spend a ton of money to get there from all over the state. They aren't going to drop money on what they saw last Saturday. The 12 kickoff doubles the budget if one stays overnight.
