Sushi without tamari+wasabi seems really strange.

Wild take.

If your sushi is good, it's generally not necessary. If you're eating some California or crunchy shrimp rolls, then by all means, soak that **** in tamari and cake it up in wasabi to make it interesting.

But if I'm downing some high grade tako or mackerel, it shouldn't need more than a whisper of anything on it.

I don't eat crappy sushi. I just prefer a little Tamari with wasabi for dipping, unless there is already some kind of sauce or topping. Honestly, I've only had sashimi for the past year (no carb diet), and i can't do it plain. Sriracha or chili sauce mayo or a mignonette work too.

Mignonette is the best.

Get some salty mackerel sashimi!
