What do we pay the new coach?

If it is Kelly, Grobe, Peterson, Muschamp, etc. no more than 2.5 mil.

If it is Gruden, Cowher, Kiffin, Leach, Davis at least 3.5 mil, if not more plus the "Saban Package" with executive decisions included.

Not saying I want one over the other, or even if they are logical....I'd pay the more experienced and battle tested being paid more.

Depends on experience. They want to go as cheap as possible. They wanted to float the big names to get some attention and then see who is the best coach they could get for the least amount of money. The big names showed interest until they got low balled then suddenly no one was interested. You knew that we would be in trouble when you started hearing the term "market value".

This spring when the season ticket holders get there statements for football tickets, they should write Hamilton a check for "market value."

Mediocrity did not end with Fulmer. He was just a part of it.

depends on the coach. If its your A list 3-4 million which seems to be Butch Davis alone, then It appears Brian Kelly is B List for hamilton and since he is making about 1.2 mill at The Natti I would say about 2 million and about the Same for Kiffin, since half the excitement of him is him bringing his dad to be a coordinator and we definitely would have to open up the wallet for him too Leach I think is on the C list well just for being a weird dude so who knows about 1.5 million for him

We go 9 days without hiring a coach and people are starting to lose their minds.

We pay him what he's worth. The amount is variable dependent upon the person and qualifications.

Having said that, I'll top rocktophigh's offer and go all the way up to $20 and a Krystals coupon for the girl in the avatar. Take that!!!

How many of you think that Alabama would be ranked #1 today if Alabama told Saban that we are going to pay you "market value?" And what about Meyer at Florida? Would he have considered "market value?"

Considering that Fulmer signed a new contract last summer, we are essentially paying him $8.5 mil over a period of time to coach one year. We will be getting $15 mil per year for a new ESPN TV contract, so why do we have to hire another average coach? If that is the case, we should have stuck with Fulmer.

The problem with this program is coaching and leadership. People are saying that we can not win because Florida, Alabama, Georgia, and LSU are just too good. The same could be said for 1992, but we had a coaching staff that would not be defeated at that time. That is what we need now. Someone who does not care how good the competition is, we are still going to beat them.

When Majors came back he had to rebuild the recruiting base and take those players that other teams had been recruiting. It took him until the mid 80's to make head way, but he was not intimidated. Bear Bryant quit because he could no longer walk into any recruit's home like he did in the 70's.

We need a coach with a heritage that allows him to smack Meyer and Saban in the mouth, regardless of how much it costs. Alabama took that attitude 2 years ago and look where they are now. And you are not going to get that kind of coach for a few pesos.
