What do people really expect

Lance might have made a good interim because he knew the system we were playing and could have done a better job making gradual rather than wholesale changes.
We might have been mediocre, but not the worst in the country.

I totally agree. We have some really good players on defense. Why Dooley thought it would be a good idea to bring in a guy that had never been a DC and completely revamp the scheme to a 3-4 is beyond me. It is going to end up costing him his job. Freakin Idiot!

He is trying to make Tennessee in Alabama's image. It's like teams in the NFL hiring all of Belichick's assistants. It will not work unless you have Saban or Belichick running the show.

I see what you are saying but we would still be bad we might be 10 places from last but we would still be pretty bad Lance also had limited experience as a DC like Suneri. If we wanted to win we should have found a DC with experience. Lance Would just be Dooley of Defence nice guy but not a leader. I don't know what people say in him anyway

Dooley didn't get hired because he had a famous "daddy". He got hired because we were a 12-13 team over the previous two years, had a nice list of NCAA violations from Kiffin, and had three weeks until signing day. What great coach wants to start off on that note?

Dooley stabilized the program, brought some integrity back, but has obviously reached the end of his ability. We're now in a position to get a quality coach.

It's time for him to go, but it's ridiculous to criticize the hire -- we really weren't in a dynamite hiring situation.

Dooley has more a tie to UGA than Gruden does to UT. Dooley coached there 1 year, plus his dad was HC there.

Gruden coached 1 year at UT as a GA...Derek was a GA at UGA for one year in 96 :ermm: Now how does that make him more connected to UGA than Gruden to UT?...Because his father coached there?...Please

Unless you call your father DADDY,that comes off as a jealous slur. I do now believe CDD is not our answer but I doubt anyone really knew that 3 yrs ago. Hindsight makes anyone correct today.

MANY people knew that he wouldn't work out. The problem was that they were labeled as NegaVols. Only thing is, we were correct.

It isn't about who is right or wrong any more.

Our school needs to act fast. Sever ties while we can.

Practically ever coach takes over a bad team, very few coaches just happen to retire on high note. And a lot of coaches take over teams facing minor NCAA violations, like Urban Meyer! And several good coaches have been hired in January, like Nick Saban!

And dont try shove this integrity up everyone's azz! Another Dooley player was in trouple this week. Dooley said he believes in "second chances" for troubled players,ha :hi:

Rewind 3 years, yes he was considered to be the UGA coach in waiting. Almost every UGA alum knows this. Whether you want to hear it or not is not my fault. You should have been around when he was hired and no one knew who the hell he was except UGA fans.

I just don't understand why we didn't get an interim HC like Arkansas did and give ourselves 1 full year to find the right guy. Why did we have to set the program back an additional 3 years? Yeah, Dooley came into a tough situation, but he's somehow made the team WORSE each year. You have to have a special talent to do that.

I think you have a good point, but it has two answers:
1) Hamilton is stupid, and
2) I think the overwhelming rational was to avoid EXACTLY what Arkansas is going through this year.

they might pull out a great hire, who knows, but I think Hammy was trying to minimize the damage because, as Arkansas proves, hiring an interim could just create a throw-away season.
