Midwood Smokehouse - they have a couple locations in Charlotte. Get the combo platter of meats and also a plate of burnt ends. They have a bacon wrapped jalapenos appetizer but you can get them as one of your sides - do that!

Another good place to check out is Optimist Hall, it is close to uptown. It's like a big food court but no place like at a mall food court. Instead it is all local restaurants, so if you have picky people who want something different this is great - grilled cheese restaurant that is great, pizza, broth bowl, sushi, taco, dumplings, gelato, juice bar, etc. It just opened last year so more restaurants are on the way and it can get quite crowded as it is a great spot.

I hadn't had salmon patties in probably 4-5 years, and got to craving them. Went to Ky during the week of The New Year to visit my family. My parents church had a service on new year's and dinner, and someone made some. They were so good.
