Slick Rick says, Dorian Davis is going to be a VERY GOOD player in the future for the Big Orange if he keeps his nose clean. He has tremendous explosion off the ball.

Violating team rules means one of two things: he broke curfew or he was caught with drugs/alchohol.

I really hope it wasnt drugs, grades I can handle, but there are kids that want to emulate these guys (maybe not davis) and the drug thing really bothers me.

Slick Rick says, VolinArizona, I know exactly what off the ball means. I am referring to the lower body explosion he has at the snap of the ball. He comes off the line of scrimmage very very well. I have seen him practice several times last year and this spring. He is going to be a good one.

Have you ever seen the little kids mob guys with any type of Adidas sports apparel at baseball games for autographs? Any guy that puts on a white helmet with an orange T in Knoxville is a role model whether they want to be or not.

No, because they look up to guys that play regardless of who it is. Maybe I was the only kid that knew the majority of UT's roster when I was younger.

You probably were. Half of the people on here probably still don't know who Dorian Davis is. He is a 20 year old guy that shouldn't have to be subjected to the pressures of being a role model on top of trying to break in with the football team and staying in school.

Exactly...plus I don't see how it's too much to ask him to act in an appropriate manner (we don't really know what he did, but it was something bad). Even people who play sports nobody watches are expected to do this. Even if nobody recognizes him, he is still hurting his team and himself.

Then he needs to re-eval his priorities. He made a choice to try and take on all parts and is now paying for it. This will either make him a better person or he will fail but it's still his choice.

He may need to do it in order to keep his spot on the team and keep himself out of trouble; but he is not a role model. He doesn't need to clean up for the kids, its for the school's sake and his own.

I don't want to hear it that he needs to clean his act up for anyone else besides himself or the school.

Players are role models, like it or not. Some admit to it and take on that role and others don't.

I agree though that he has to want to do it for himself before he could consider doing it for anyone else.
