Does anyone belive that if Fulmer would have hired the guys from Michigan, and promoted Troop to assistant OC, and never hired Clawson and Scott, that Tennessee have had a much better season, and Fulmer would have kept his job???

I'm curious to see some opinions..........

Doesn't matter anyway. With Fulmer's record over the last 5 years it was time for us to move on. Hamilton wouldn't have seen it otherwise. Thanks to Clawson for speeding up the process. With a competant OC we win one of the Bama, Florida, or Georgia games and go through the same thing next season.

Hard to say, but it's quite possible. The offense is the biggest problem, so different coaches might have gotten different results.

On it's face, this seems like a stupid question... but then you ask yourself, "Could Trooper Taylor had lost to Wyoming?"...

Since he's never called a play I'd say no. But he might've had to tone down the chest bumps a little.

No, Ryan Mallet would not have been able to start for a year and the OL would have still been terrible.

Ok, well I guess Justin beat me to it.

Actually... yes. My reasoning is that the highly productive UT offense from 2007 all returned except for QB. The Michigan staff ran an offense which matches up better with the players that are on the team than whatever Clawson is trying. The problem with Clawson is that he keeps trying to push his offense no matter the outcome. Even in 2005, the Vols modified the offense (or as it was said by the coaching staff "simplified") midway during the season when it was apparant that the players on the team could not make it work.

Well, they did simplify this offense. Eventually it came down to two pass: counter and a pass, but Crompton couldn't handle their complexity.

it still amazes me how anyone can think an OC can make a shi**y QB good in just a few months.

Did any of you ever see Richmond play when Clawson was there? Its not about being 1-AA, but having a QB to run the offense. I don't think Clawson would have EVER taken this job had he known we didn't have capable QBs.

It is all on Fulmer and no one else
