What concerns me more than the O-Line

I really could not understand why ETSU was throwing the ball. They were averaging around 5 yards a clip running the ball against our DL. Our front seven has talent but apparently has not jelled at all.

Our O line stand there like statues and look at each other as a Def lineman ( or 3-4 ) run by them and kill our QB. What is the o line coach teaching these slugs? Similar play vs SEC teams will result in the top 3 QBS being injured by mid-season. Why cant we get quality players ( Smith is an exception) and teach them? All the other SEC teams have them. WHY not us??

A lot of our schemes require pulling. Some lineman miss those assignments. Just like the time you are talking about when the center missed his assignment up the middle and got an ear full of the sidelines. All of this will get ironed out after this next week I believe.

You realize he had 3 batted passes and 2 were picked and taken back for TD and 3 yd line, right?

🤬
Correct. Pruitt I believe after the West Virginia game stated our DL has to take away pass lanes and play their area of responsibility while getting a pass rush.

It seems like we have corrected two of those things in one week. Just need to correct the pass rush issue by next week.

No, I’m still more concern with Oline than anything.
I’m really starting to question whether Trey’s best spot is tackle. Those early goal line plays against ETSU all went left and were atrocious.

The D-Line. There was no reason we shouldn’t have had 6 sacks tonight. There wasn’t any pressure on the QB whatsoever!

This year's Achilles heel
The Oline and the Dline
The 2 most important, unfortunately

The thing is, you don’t have to have 5 star talent to have a serviceable Oline.

With Trey Smith this ought to be a guy who takes an average Oline and makes a difference. However, I do not think he is taking to left tackle the way many had hoped. I’m not sure that’s his niche. He problem right now isn’t talent but assignments.

ETSU may not be a good indicator of what has or has not been fixed.
Florida Auburn Kentucky Georiga Alabama will be the real test as to what or hasn't been improved upon.
