What common sense college football fans already know.

1. Banks is not an elite DC nor is he “good”. He had a defense ranked in the 30’s of total defense in 2023 and a defense in the top 10 2024. Aside from that, his defenses have ranked in the total defense category around the 90’s to include this year.
2. One of the major knocks that I hear from the “experts” and I somewhat agree with is that Huepel will start/play a senior type player over a more talented younger player therefore we don’t always have our best players on the field. His loyalty to older players and his staff will eventually cost him his job if he doesn’t grow a pair and manage player/staff weaknesses correctly.
This staff doesn't develop all that well. It's up to the kid to learn by time and osmosis.

Who is this senior player who started over a better younger player?

Heupel is a great coach. Every coach deserves a pass on a season like this. We have rich people problems currently. Our season was still good but most losses now are disappointing with our new expectations that Heupel created.

We need more NIL money. Where are the rich boosters at? This is the biggest thing holding us back. We have to be great in this category and not just good.

We got super unlucky this year with injuries that were supposed to be the strength of this football team.

We didn't spend our NIL money that well for this roster but this can be improved. This will happen to all coaches eventually. You have to take chances on star players sometimes or Bama and Georgia will and they will burn you. Zachariah Branch burned us this year and so did Boo Carter.

Like a previous poster said. We have a great culture here that can be built to last for a long time. Players and their families respect this and will come exactly for this reason.

Coach Banks can coach with the right players. This is proven. We have seen major progress with the exception of this year. We could have played even better with more high profile players but need the NIL money and you have to have your best players on the field.

Last thing, college football has changed significantly in the last couple of years. It's good we have a coach like Heupel who scored one of the highest wonderlic scores ever during the NFL draft testing. I trust him to also figure the new changes that need to be made so we can start winning championships soon. We had some bad luck this year but we are closer than you think. Go Big Orange!
Banks Defenses’average in his years here is 10th in the SEC

Fulmer did the same thing. Where did that get him?

I don’t buy season tickets, so my question is sincere. I thought I understood that AD White added either a $10 or $15 talent fee to tickets. If true, at $10 the NIL should bring in an additional $7M this year. If $15 then $10.5M
If estimates are true that Tenn spent $13.5M this past year, then future years should be $20-$25M for talent. Probably top 5 for schools.
Am I mistaken.

CJH is a good / above average SEC coach. He is NOT GREAT. He is a horrible time / timeout manager. I've never seen him get in one player's or zebra's grill. Not one. He had at least 2 legit opportunities to burn the zebras vs Candy...yet just stood there looking bewildered. #GBO.

I just want to know if banks understands it’s within the rules for the opposing QB to actually run across the line of scrimmage whilst in possession of the ball
Rumor has it that Diego texted him before the game and told Banks" I'm going to run up the middle all night and you can't stop me", but Banks didn't bite on it.

It did hurt having $1.5+ mil in NIL money on guys who didn’t play (McCoy, Gibson & Carter.)

You can donate as little as $5.00 per month to the NIL initiative.

Replied to the bolded. The rest of the post is just the loser mentality of coach fans

We need a new DC and the most expensive DB’s money can buy. That would solve all of our problems.

Many fans are rationalizing that Heupel got everyone’s expectations too high by winning 11 games in year two. If CJH had won 28-30 games his first 4 years, would you not have higher expectations than another 8-4 season (4-4 conference) in year 5, regardless of prior years. What was the anomaly in year 2 that was not available this year?
To be honest, I base a HCs record on conference wins, not total wins. With the 8 game schedule, you have 3 or 4 cupcake wins built in.
