if a good hire is made, we should have a decent record next year, especially with the schedule we have. the next 2-3 years will be a process. i'm willing to wait it out

I have an addition, my expectations also include for the new coach to take over the University of Tennessee Space Institute, build a rocket with his bare hands, and beat the sh*t out of Bama on the moon.... I don't think I'm asking for too much.

How about, oh I don't know, DISCIPLINE to start with!!! Maybe no more than 3-4 penalties per game(benching for stupid personal fouls that stop drives----even for seniors). And, for God's sake, BE COMPETITIVE!! Take the losses like men(leaving it all on the field), and please, stay within 10 points of your rivals. If we are competitive, and play disciplined football, I will be VERY happy.

I would like to see some level of success in 2-3 years. My biggest thing though I want to see this new coaching staff instill high quantities of disipline and make our boys play for 4 quarters not quitting by halftime. And from day one going over the basic fundamentals of the game of football.

Right now we've got a lot of problems.

First of all our offense is terrible and has been for some time. There are at least 2 major problems that have to be sorted out. One is discipline on the players part and the other is the way they play. Over the last 5 or 6 years, we have either A: Recruited players with little or no talent that would be more suited for Carson Newman than UT or B: Our coaching staff hasn't been able to get them to put out anywhere close to 100% effort.

In year 1, I don't expect more than 7 wins. I do expect the discipline level to rise significantly, and I do expect the players we have to put a whole lot more effort into the game. I expect the receivers to catch the ball and the running backs to hang on to the ball. I expect the line to at least attempt to block. I expect the defense to hit hard and tackle.

In year 2, I really don't expect more wins, however I expect that a new recruiting class has been brought in that is better than what we've got now. I expect our talent level to increase. I want to see those players developed and be ready for year 3.

Year 3, I expect significantly more wins, more talent, and significantly better game play. If by the end of year 3, it's as bad as it was on year 1 other options should be looked at.

There is a big difference in UT football now than when Fulmer came in. When Fulmer came in, our problem more centered around schemes on Offense and Defense that weren't working. We had the players and had the talent, we just needed someone that knew how to use the tools we had. Right now, we don't seem to have the tools necessary for the job and it will take a few years to rectify that.

I hope we get a good coaching staff, but we need to win more than 8 games. I wouldn't be surprised if we go to a good bowl game next year, though.

I want a new attitude and for us to be competitive on the field. If we lose games, so be it, but I want to see our players leave it out there every time.
I agree with this. Opposing coaches should realize when making their game plan that the Volunteers will be giving everything they have on the field of battle on game day.

we could start with recruiting more speed. that toolbag down in fl. has been successful on the sole fact that he has speed at just about every position and he exploits it. god i hate urban meyer so much. But we could definitely start being a little more even matched if we can at least have that same edge. i know you can't coach speed, but we can make a little more effort recruiting it. look at what chris johnson has done for the titans as an example of how quickly things can change for a team with a little bit of speed. i know it is a pro example, but clearly explains what i am trying to say.
