Hey everyone,

I don't follow baseball as closely as a lot of folks in this part of the forums. But even a blind squirrel can find the acorn that says this year is breaking records right and left.

What are some of the more impressive ones our lads are adding to the record books so far? Probably most sweeps in a season for the program? Maybe even for the SEC? Heaven forbid there are some NCAA records being added to the fellows' collection. :)

Thanks in advance for the education. Looking forward to hearing all about this.

Go Vols!

17-1 start to SEC season is very impressive and likely won't be broken for a long, long time. But keep in mind that setting these kinds records isn't the goal. We haven't won anything yet. Keep eyes on the prize: SEC Championship first, SEC Tournament Championship second, Omaha third, and National Championship last.

When it was 4-4, I told my wife, “Let’s get to the front porch!” That’s where we listen to all the games, so I take credit for the win today! You’re welcome!
I tuned into the game on the radio after getting some work done. It was top of the 10th inning, I think. The score was 4-4. Less than 10 minutes later, we'd gone up by 2 runs. Less than 10 minutes after that, our lads locked in the W.

I only got to listen to about 20 minutes of the game, but boy was it a good 20 minutes. :)

Go Vols!

I have watched lots of baseball and these guys are fun to watch! On game by game basis, this team is probably the most fun to watch ever. They really don't have many "normal" baseball games.

I can get people that don't like baseball to watch these guys.

I had to work and missed the game but watched on replay.

After about an hour or so I noticed the replay was over 3hours.. so I figured extra innings.

As the game went on I thought maybe it was just the wrong recording or the app was messing up again because it wasn't looking good for the Vols.

The rest is history..

Two things I have noticed about the team this year:
1) we leave too many runners on base.
2) our bullpen keeps us in any game. If we can get to the opponents pen, we have the advantage.

I hope our offense takes a little bit more advantage of our runners on base come tournament time.
GBO!!!!!!

Lots of runners on base (see our high OBP) gives us the opportunity to score more. We do a lot of 2-out damage. The more runners that get on base, the more you will strand, naturally. I think it’s an optics situation.

The climb to the top—and then to create separation from the rest of the pack nationally—has been most impressive and eyebrow raising. It’s as if they are trying to set a new standard with every game, every at-bat, every play.

Yesterday’s game was very exemplary of this team’s aspirations. With the series victory in it’s pocket against Florida in Gainesville and down by 3 runs and staring at (a respectable) defeat for only the 2nd time this season, this team dug its cleats in and manufactured a win while refusing to lose.

This is a very exciting team to watch and easy to pull for.

Absolutely agree with you! We do a ton of damage with 2 outs which is amazing. But in the low scoring games we have had, leaving runners on base is usually what costs us. Sure we have had a game here and there where our starting pitcher got knocked out early and/or suffered the rare loss but stranded runners would usually make up for that in those games.

Christian Moore is not a freshman. That guy just has an understanding beyond his years.

His understanding of how they were pitching him and his description of being prepared to get around on that inside pitch amazed me. Kid has “it”.
Yes, that was what I was alluding to as well. I’ve also taken note of several other interviews he’s done, and his depth of knowledge and his calm demeanor remind me a lot of Drew Beam.
