What are the chances of Butch retaining Shoop next year?

We don't know how good he is just yet. Our defense is in the upper-middle pack of the country right now. However, the defense has played better while under pressure which is a huge difference from last year. I'd like to see them put a complete game together, though.

I say he will be here for a couple years at least. He has been a head coach before and it didn't go so well.

Um...adjustments?

Compare the first and second half of literally any of our games this year. He's a keeper.:pepper:

Shoop is gone after this year. He will be a HC somewhere and I'm confident a decent power 5 school will be willing to give him a shot. This was stated when Shoop came on board. That's why his contract is setup the way it is. This should be no surprise.

If for some reason he stays it would be because he and only he changes his mind on taking a HC job.

I know, but I'm ready for us to put a complete defensive game together as well. Hopefully we will this Saturday.

Do you have some inside knowledge? This reads more like statement of fact rather than opinion.

I wouldn't think he has the resume for this?

Break out the garbage truck and dump a huge pile of money on his lawn. He's an amazing DC and we need to do whatever it takes to keep him.

Only when he ends the steak with Alabama do we back up the garbage truck full of money

What would you have thought if someone had told you before the game that a UT Defense would hold Florida to 3 and out on five of the first six drives of the second half? Unreal!

UT under Neyland built its national prominence on Defense. I want to see that again. I want to be known as the best Defensive school in the Nation year in and year out.

I know in preseason DC rankings he wasn't in the top two or three for the SEC. I know Chavis was no. 1. SEC Network is the source.

Pay him as much or more than a Group of 5 or FCS school HBC and if he get's a shot at the big time thank him for what he's done for Tennessee and wish him well.

Every coach was an OC/DC at some point, but I would be very interested to know which, if any, method of hiring a head coach results in a greater likelihood of success: Hiring a HC from outside the P5 or hiring a P5 coordinator.

The P5 coordinators always seem to get the most discussion, but there also seems to be a decent number of them that don't work out.

A HC job is VERY different than a coordinator role.
