What about Walt Harris?

Sorry if it's been mentioned, but I didn't feel like sifting thru 100 threads, BUT...

I was listening to Tim Brandow's radio show today and he mentioned that Walt Harris may be an OC option as Fulmer doesn't feel Trooper is ready, Kippy may go elsewhere and harris has ties to the school. Some feel that Walt shoulda gotten the gig over Phil from day 1, but we see how that turned out. Any opinions? Rumors?

yes, there is another thread about Walt Harris. A lot of people like him for the job, including Doug Matthews, i've heard.

Yes, he is a disciplinarian, which is needed on the hill now. However, a better choice can be easily made. He has a dismal record of coaching failures in recent history. He has a lot of conflict with his players, because he cannot relate to them. Doesn't sound like he's good for recruiting. He is 61 years old, and in the best possible case, would not be a long term solution. And, he's another coach from the "inbred" family of UT coaches. New blood is needed in the program now more than ever.
