I still don't believe Gruden is out of the question, but obviously I believe most of us have our doubts now. So, I was thinking of a staff, and I believe I actually heared someone on TSR say this as well.

HC: Charlie Strong
OC: Trooper Taylor
DC: Kevin Steele

I believe this staff could be dynamic. Trooper Taylor is also one of the best recruiters in the nation, and I'm sure it'd be an easy jump for him if we offered him the OC position, he'd do well with WR's and RB's for sure. Steele is a Tennessee guy, and it may not be the best offer, but I believe he would make us a solid D, you can't get worse than what we have....and besides Strong is a D guy himself so that'll help a lot.

Doesnt have any sort of "splash" to it. I have always been a Trooper fan. He is a great guy, a great motivator, but not sure he is ready to step into this situation as a coordinator. I would love to have him back on staff.

Bringing Trooper Taylor back to Knoxville would be nuts. The man is a walking NCAA violation waiting to happen. Trooper as an OC? I don't like the idea at all. I would think Chaney will have a decent chance of holding on to his job if a new HC is hired. UNLESS the new coach chooses to bring his whole staff from wherever he is coming from. CJC numbers wise has had a heck of a year.

I have said it before. I just don't see us paying CS top coach type money. He is not a 4 million dollar man. I think he is overpaid already. He makes over a million dollars a year more than the next highest paid coach in the BE. His resume is not a 4 million dollar resume.

Dooley has caused Chaney to get an extremely bad rap here. Chaney is a very high quality OC imo.

I like Trooper, but I think if you get Charlie Strong (who is such a solid defensive guy) then you would want an experienced OC to go with him. I'd be fine if he brought the guy he has at Lousiville, but I don't think it would work to make Trooper the OC, since he doesn't really have any experience calling plays.

I heard Trooper was in trouble along with another assistant at Auburn, can't visit or go watch recruits.........

I have seen that as well several places. It would not surprise me at all. The guy has always been shady.

Fair enough, but I want Troop back on the staff, and I figured thats about the only way. I think he could turn out to be a good OC, but I understand the arguments of wanting an experianced OC. I won't cry if we kept Chaney. He's pretty decent. He does stupid calls sometimes, but overall our Offense is great isnt it?

I don't see that at all. Well maybe Cut, and Troop, but Cheif isnt leaving LSU unless we offer him the HC position.

I was under the impression that Chief never has wanted a HC position cause of the recruiting responsibilities, no?

Is this one of those games where there are 3 black coaches and you have to figure out of the 3 which is dirty coach/recruiter, which can't coordinate a defense, and which would be a great hire?

So trooper cannot be the OC at UT, OK State (Co-coord), or Auburn but we will hand it over to him now?

Want no part of Trooper Taylor. Have been rumblings for yrs about his shady recruiting tactics. Dont trust or want him anywhere near UT. I am all for Strong but no Trooper and would take Steele as a DLine type coach but dont want him as a DC.

Here is a reality check. Towel waving rodeo clown hasn't called plays one time in his career. Chizik thought so much of him that he brought in a totally new system.

Trooper is radioactive right now. If certain things come out he is done. I don't get why some TN people have this infatuation with Trooper. He's very shady, not from TN, never played at UT, was an assistant here for 4 years and that's it. Fulmer wouldn't promote him, no one before or after would promote him. Don't get it.

Troop is innocent until proven otherwise, I think a lot of people still hate him for the whole Gerald Jones thing
