Would this be at least worth a bandaid solution until we get a new Athletic Director. The AD decides later on Butchs fate.

But for 2017 season, Butch stays but is told that this offensive scheme is unacceptable. He will be given $2 million to hire a proven winner as Offensive Coordinator.
That OC will have full control of changing the offense and hiring and firing any or all assistants on the offensive side.

On the defensive side, Shoop fires Martinez.
His decision on Thigpen.
Stripling stays.

It is exactly what needs to happen. Butch loves this school and has worked his tail off. That being said he has to be able to see his offense and some of his coaches are not getting it done. With the right staff and Butch letting them do their thing and not micro manage teamed with his work ethic I think things would really get better. It is all up to Butch and the bosses on the hill.

You want the AD making schematic decisions?

Same thing happened in Baton Rouge this offseason. Les sweettalked his way into making the AD trust him. He's charismatic enough to do that. Butch is not. At least Saban has the balls to hire Kiffin and give him a long leash.

No coach would ever want to coach here if that got put out on front street. Think about it. we will hold you accountable for all results but you can't do what you want to accomplish goals.

Give an OC full control like that? Absolutely all day everyday. That scenario would be awesome.

So, who is exactly is telling Butch to change his scheme?

Doesn't matter who it is, just so they do.
DePietro
Thunder Thornton
The Haslems
Peyton
Hart on his way out the door, thru the outgoing Chancellor.
A group intervention of all the above plus other big money and influential people.

Who's going to take the OC job though with that kind of lack of job security?

Of course it matters since they are making decisions about the scheme UT will run on offense. You think those guys you listed are qualified (or even interested) in doing that?

Seems you didn't quite think this scenario all the way through

No. I think I did.
Butch is actually deciding on a new offensive scheme.
He just can't keep DeBord and his same off system.
He decides who his new OC is.
They basically will decide his fate with a new AD (hopefully, Blackburn).
