Everyone knows that a head coach is only as good as his offensive coordinator. And we all know that the best defense is a great offense. Who knows who will be the head coach next year, my guess is Lane Kiffen, but what I am more concerned about is who will be the offensive coordinator.
My suggestion is Gus Malzahn...Tulsa's offensive coordinator.
Although his college career has not been that long, he has proven himself. After winning two high school state championships at Springdale High School in Arkansas (where Springdale was a top 25 high school) he came to Arkansas as the OC and his first year they went to the SEC championship and probably would have won if Houston Nutt hadn't gotten in the way. Remember the Wild Cat... yeah that was his idea. Its working well for Miami too. Nutt and Malzahn end up not getting along and Malzahn gets blamed and the boot. By the way, Arkansas had the same team the next year and couldnt produce. Malzahn then goes to Tulsa where is best friend is the head coach and his first year there he gives Tulsa the best offense in the country. This year he is on track to do the same. Granted Tulsa plays weak teams but they also have weak athletes. Bottom line is Malzahn is an offensive genius and has proven himself in the SEC. Tennessee would be foolish not to snatch him up.
