Exactly, if this makes any difference whatsoever, we have bigger problems.
Agreed...This shouldn't even be a game, I just really hope the boys don't read all this crap about these guys sitting out, even though it shouldn't matter, and just get even the slightest bit of over confident because a team like WKU is kind of like a team like Vandy(not talent wise or anything like that) but they are in the sense that if you let them hang around the entire game and don't put them out of their misery early in the game they build on that the whole game and gain confidence and play you harder and closer than you thought, if we are going to have to play hard before the Florida game, I would feel better if it was against UCLA(not that that would be much better), not WKU

UCLA was at their 3rd string QB and a bunch of other positions had lost some starters. Look what happened last year at that game.

And WKU is a sun belt team, a traditionally bad one too that doesn't do well unless their schedule lines up to have them playing worse teams...this is pretty much the same as playing MTSU or a 1-aa team

....sorry, an FCS team

I can only imagine the carnage if Tennessee plays anything like they did in the 2006 Cal game. This has potential Louisiana Monroe circa 2000 beatdown written on it.

I don't know how we could lose this game without divine intervention.

That'd be nice, but I don't think we'll come out near that heavy on offense yet. That said, we'll win soundly, our defense will most likely be too much for them, and offense will be better than a 19-for-41,for 189 yards and 1 int, passing performance

Any idea if this game will be televised? I would definitely like to see the Kiffin's Vols debut

Other SEC games that day are LA Tech @ Auburn, Missouri St. @ Ark, Charleston Southern @ UF, Kentucky @ Miami (OH), UGA @ Oklahoma St. (3:30), and LSU @ Washington @10

My guess is there's a chance Raycom (or whatever they call themselves) could pick it up, but this will probably be a ppv game I feel....unless we've garnered so much "love" from ESPN w/ kiffin that they want to give us a 1 PM timeslot just to see what happens / talk about violations :p

I thought last year was Raycom's last season?

ESPNU would be my guess

I thought they changed their name to something else didnt they?/someone still has that noon timeslot and 3rd or 4th choice don't they?

Forgot about ESPNU, but I don't think we will get their attention...then again there's not much week 1

Make sure you stop by after the WKU game...and UCLA...to refresh our memories.

This is not the Tennessee team you remember, by any means.

Say what you will about Lane Kiffin, but we are going to absolutely smother WKU...and UCLA.

Doubting Thomas.

Go Vols.

Oh, I think we will destroy both team, I'm just saying stranger things have happened before.

Like I said in a previous post, I think we will drill both teams. Just saying stranger things have happened before. Like UCLA last year.

From my understanding, all but one game for every team will be at least regionally televised... with a single game left over for PPV. In our case, that would likely be Ohio.

CBS will get the SEC game of the week, but they don't start until September 19.

ABC gets Georgia at Oklahoma State and Alabama at Virginia Tech(in Atlanta) as part of their deals with the Big12 and ACC.

ESPN has South Carolina at NC State on Thursday 7 to kick off the season, and LSU at Washington on Saturday at 10:30 as part of their Pac-10 deal.

ESPN2 has no scheduled SEC games yet, but does have Maryland at California at 10 Saturday.

ESPNU has no scheduled games yet.

The new ESPN Regional Television(ERT) has not picked their game of the week yet... this is what replaces Raycom.

Remaining week one SEC games

Charleston Southern at Florida - PPV? Play FIU 11/21
Missouri State at Arkansas - PPV? Play EKU 10/31
Louisiana Tech at Auburn - ESPN2?
Kentucky at Miami(Oh.) - Does not apply, under MAC contract
Ole Miss at Memphis - Does not apply, under C-USA contract
Jackson State at Mississippi State - Almost certainly PPV
Western Carolina at Vanderbilt - Ditto
Western Kentucky at Tennessee - ESPNU seems likely, or that ERT package... but I expect Arkansas or Florida to take the week one 12:30 ERT game.

So what is this "regional" ESPN broadcast? Is this something additional that you have to order (separate channel than ESPN or ESPN2)??????????? Or will this be on, for example, in our area while the rest of the country watches another game?

If we don't beat WKU by at least 3 touchdowns, prepare yourself.. It's gonna be a long season!

Nope. on homecoming to boot!
I would say I don't remember the last time we got beat on Homecoming but that Miami loss back in 02(I think it was that year they drummed us 26-3)came right to mind...I'm sure its happened between now and then too but that's the one that really sticks out in my mind
