We lost our star receiver, granted thats no excuse for losing because one player does not make a team, but Hunter and Rogers are so good because each are a threat when they have the ball. Teams cant key in on one because you always have to worry about the other. So losing Hunter made our passing game very vulnerable out there today, and it showed. Our play calling was greatly effected by it. Although, we still moved the ball, almost every pass was out in the flat. We hardly ever opened it up down field. Stone had his worst game of his career so far. He had so many bad snaps at the worst possible times. We had absolutely no run game whatsoever. Our run game has been mediocre all season so far, but today takes the cake. We had miss tackles all game long, and did not wrap up. We had bad calls or calls that were not called that should have been called. Florida players were holding our guys up all game long, both offensively and defensively. Put all of those factors together, and its almost impossible to beat a team of the likes Florida. We still fought hard and made a push there towards the end. Thats shows heart and the will to not give up. Lets just say id like to see Florida beat us at our best when we're healthy, I think the final score would have been a little bit different. The run for the East is still far from over, and very winnable. We get both Georgia and South Carolina at home this year, and if healthy I think we beat them. Im also willing to go out on a limb, and say that Tennessee will upset LSU this year at Neyland. We remember what happened last year, and are gonna be gunning for that win. There's still alot to work on, but if we play our cards right and win the games we should win. Along with a couple of big upsets, then we just might earn us a trip to Atlanta this year. Go Vols!

Says we need to develope the reciever corp and this may give us the opportunity, hope it will pay off in the long run

We never were. We are closing the gap and go into every game with a chance because our offense can be nearly unstoppable if our QB has it going. Otherwise, we don't have any real options.

We are an average football team. Playing in the SEC, being an average football team puts you just above Vandy and KY...hopefully.

Well played Vols. Your team never gave up and it was in contention till the last interception. Your offense is fun to watch, and the rivalry is as fiery as ever, even with the 7-loss streak. Dooley seems like a class act and I can certainly root for you guys against non-sec opposition. Bray is impressive, give him a better O-line and things would be scary.

The loss of Hunter early on was devastating no doubt. It does take a team to win, though. We had a couple years where Percy Harvin went down every few games. The first SEC championship game against Alabama sticks out in particular, we were missing Percy and a few other receivers stepped up. Hopefully this can happen to you guys if he's out for a few games. Your TE, Rivera I think, was very good overall.

As bad as I hate to admit you are correct on all points. Our oline is a major issue and has to be corrected. 40 yards rushing in the SEC is *****ing joke!!! :banghead2::banghead2::banghead2::banghead2::banghead2::banghead2::banghead2::banghead2::banghead2::banghead2:

If this UT team is "good" I would hate to see a mediocre UT team.

Im sick of hearing this crap from you people! Have none of ya'll paid attention to Tennessee football over the last 3 weeks? We averaged 43.5 points per game with Hunter, granted it was against Montana and Cincy, but our offense can put up some major points when healthy. If you seriously think we would have not beaten Florida without Justin Hunter then you're on something. Losing Hunter took all of the momentum and confidence we had going into to the game away. Our first couple of drives without him proved that. Im not saying one player makes a team cause it doesnt, but Hunter is a critical piece to our offense and it showed today. Im certain after watching the game today that we would have beaten Florida if healthy.

Amen! I think we got more out of the loss than they got out of the win. Most of our problems, and their scores, are fixable. We spot them the ball in our territory numerous times and all that they end up with are field goals. We didn't give up and we kept on fighting. This team is young, inexperienced and lacks depth but it has great potential for this year and the future. Go Vols!!

Agreed, but I say we will finish above KY this yr as it has been for many, say 26 yrs. Vandy this year is at home, thank goodness.

Oh... and Ole Miss if we talking all 12 SEC teams.

I agree. The last four years we would have gotten beaten 44 to 10 with the way we played. our guys never gave up, which to me is a huge positive.

People always seem to want to blame the coach when a team loses but players have to make plays. Dooley did not miss any tackles, he didn't drop any balls, he didn't fail to block.

We are still very young and there is a huge talent gap. I saw that someone on here stated that we can't use the young/inexperience excuse. But it is not an excuse. It is reality. Florida is not young anywhere but in the secondary. it seems like demps and rainey have been there forever and i think they started only 1 sophomore on the offensive line.

We will get there. We just have to keep improving, and all of the negavols should go and route for arkansas or someother ****a** team that whines about everything. and let all of us enjoy watching this team grow and cement a foundation for our program for years to come.

The sky is bright and not falling at all!

I think the biggest thing for me was the reaction to Hunter's injury from top to bottom.. I was disappointed on how the coach's responded by becoming very conservative play calling and you could tell it took confidence away from our whole offense. I like Dooley a lot but I believe he did a very poor job as a leader. I think he should have rallied the whole team and given a pep talk because our offense (until almost half) looked like a deer in head lights. This season is far from over and I think our defense will allow us to stay in a few games we didn't think they would keep us in. GO VOLS

I see improvement. This team would have been beaten by 30+ with Fulmer's sclerotic offense.

The big numbers against 2 cream puff first games means NOTHING. When the big boys were on the field, UT couldn't compete.

Dooley has made progress from a horrible starting place. Fulmer wrecked the program and Kiffin drove a stake through UT football's heart. Give Dooley a couple of more years and we may see a competitive UT team, but if you think this team is "good" you have very, very low standards.

Who has UT beaten in the past 3 years?

Are we a good team? Nope. We have some great building blocks. Today, against the SEC, zero running game, missed tackles, too many penalties and the gators owned the line of scrimmage. That's not going to win you many ball games in this conference. Losing Hunter hurts but he's not our only WR. Fix the problems, give Bray a running game to slow the blitz packages down and a smidge more time to throw the ball. Penalty and low snap B.S. is squarely on the coaching staff. If they don't have it fixed by the next game, shame on them.

My point is Tennessee is a good team when healthy. Maybe I should have clarified that. Losing Hunter puts more of an average effect to our offense, but that doesnt mean we cant be a good football team with what we currently have either. Bray is a talent QB, and I believe he will make some of these other guys look good. Arnett shows some promise, all of his catches were out in the flat, but he was solid. Our young receivers are gonna need to grow up fast, and step up if Hunter is out for a while. As it stands, I think we have a 7 win team on our hands. If we can get Hunter back, at worst 8-4, at best 9-3. Our passing game will keep us in some big games this year with Hunter in the fold, but our running game needs some major help. Its a shame when our running game was better last year with the pitiful line we had then, and now we have a more experienced and even bigger line yet no production. Granted our line is young, but our run blocking should be much better than it is. I have seen no improvement from them whatsoever.
