On a whim I decided to compare our 2005/06/07 records with our SEC brethren. Here is what I found:

Florida ~ 23-4
LSU ~ 23-4
Auburn ~ 21-5
Georgia ~ 20-7
Alabama ~ 17-9
South Carolina ~ 16-10
Arkansas ~ 15-11
Tennessee ~ 14-11
Kentucky ~ 12-13
Vanderbilt ~ 9-14
Ole Miss ~ 8-16
Miss State ~ 6-18

Teams with better records = 7 (UF, LSU, Auburn, UGA, Bama, Carolina, Arkansas)
Teams with worse records = 4 (UK, Vandy, Ole Miss, Miss St)

As you can see, since the 2005 season we're the 8th best team in the SEC. And after today, some folks are already predicting losses to the teams that are currently ahead of us. Not looking good.

Yeah, it's also distorting stats to make things look bad to worse. Why not just take 06/07 records? Why not 04/05/06/07?

Pulling random years and random stats to make a point is ridiculous. 2 years do not prove that there is some long-term sinking going on.

It would be ignorant not to face the reality of our past couple of years. Even if you factor in 2004, we would not be better than 6th or so in the SEC. Factor in 2003, maybe we inch up to 5th... maybe. Factor in 2002, we're back down to 6th or 7th I bet.

No denying it, Tennessee is no longer a serious threat to win the SEC.

Ah, yeah. No threat. We were in the Championship game in ohhhh..2004, not too long ago. These little stats everyone throws around are meaningless. Throw in the zook years with Florida, or the Holtz years with USC...they'll look worse. What I'm saying is, that these stats are garbage.

Maybe we aren't as closely in contention as in past years, but these statistics are doodie.

All the teams listed are in the same two year + one game boat. There is no distortion.

All that aside, if we don't win at least 10 games this year then we're not going in the right direction. Is winning 7 to 9 games a year okay now?

well if it keeps going like is has, we will have a few more consecutive years to add to that total. then maybe we will see whats going on
