It is hard to win on the road. Not so hard to not get blown out. When you win by 15 and then turn around and get beat by 20+, you aren’t consistent. Estrella has been a huge disappointment. Guard play is crazy inconsistent.
We lost by 30 down there last year and then won by 20 in Knoxville without two key starters. Basketball is game that overreactions to losses are unnecessary. We do have some issues, but right now the one that needs to improve the most are cutting out the dumb turnovers. That's not a difficult task to correct gradually over the rest of the season. Our FT shooting is trending back to where it was a month ago already. Estrella had bad game yesterday, but he will improve too. Being at home for a couple of straight games should help our confidence. Our mistakes have been mental. Renewed focus on those matters can make a huge difference. Barnes knows what he is doing, even with offensive sets. It's an execution issue on the players. The narrative that he doesn't know offense is dumb AF

If Carey were averaging the minutes that Grant got his junior year, he’d be scoring 16.63 a game. Do the math. Granted, he’s behind a bit due to free throw percentage. However, he would easily eclipse Grant in rebounding by a good margin. Lord only knows if he found a way to shoot 70% from the line.
Grant Williams shoots almost 40% from 3, has great hands, and is a fantastic passer. I shoot free throws barefooted at a higher clip than Carey.

I'm not digging on JC, but his place is as a brawler under the rim. If he shoots outside of 4-5 feet, he should be benched. Just a terrible comparison.

THIS^ and last year when we blew out Florida. I guarantee after the game UF fans weren't saying, you know I think with a little tweaking we win a Natty with this bunch.

To be fair, we did the same crap last year.

Florida is also a better team than their record. They lost a ton of OOC games against top competition by one possession. They are going to compete in SEC play.

I am disappointed in Cary this season. He has turned out to be a good rebounding layup only type player and if he is missing his layups and free throws he is a load to CARRY. Reviewing his play it looks like he is incapable of putting the ball on the floor inside which means he must receive the pass deep in the paint in order to score. His biggest contribution has been sealing of the court for the guards. I have not seen him do to any team what he did to us last season when he was unstoppable.

I’d fire Barnes’ offense. In all fairness, it’s Barnes lack of offensive coaching that will keep him from advancing to another F4. There is a group of former Vol players that meet and this has been a consensus in their discussions. There are now much fewer restrictions on the time coaches can spend with players. This would afford coaches more time to implement actual offensive schemes and sets. UT seems discombobulated, and it’s obvious the offense is fragmented mess. When you have a creator like Knecht, or a dead eye shooter like Lanier, you can mask these deficiencies.

The biggest head scratcher is Carey. He appears to have every bit of offensive ability as Grant Williams. He isn’t even starting. Yes, his FT shooting sucks, but he is a force down low. The offfense ran through Grant. Barnes would be well served to hire a modern offensive coach and invest more time in implementing an offensive plan.
Saying a journyman college post player that averages nine points a game is as good offensively as an all time UT great and 1st round NBA draft pick takes the dumbest post of the year and will be hard to topple over the next 11 and a half months. Heck, I will just hand you the award now. This comment can't be beaten.

lol wut

If Grant had stayed his senior year and just maintained his career pace another year, he would’ve scored more points here than Chris Lofton did.

Carey’s a nice player but he’s not fit to shine Grant’s shoes.

Heck, saying he is our most dominating offensive player right now is as dumb of a post

He’s by far, the closest thing we’ve had to Grant in the post. The scoring numbers confirm. His rebounding is better. The facts are the facts.

That you think he is our most dominant offensive player right now was one of the funniest and dumbest things I read in awhile until you started comparing him to Grant🤭

I appreciate your insults. He is our most dominant player at his position. And he’s arguably our best overall, from an offense production. There’s no other player that presents the match up problem for defenses.

I’m comparing hin to Grant because he is a guy you actually feed in the post and will almost assuredly get a bucket or a foul. Not sure why you want to make it personal.

As crazy as it sounds, I think that he might be more like Fulky than Grant.

Arguably Carey is our best player overall? No one would argue that but you. He's a tough low post scorer. He's probably our best at that and that's it.

Post up offense is his strength and he's the best we have at it. That's all that needs be said. The Grant stuff is bazaar.
