...and I just turned 18 a couple weeks ago, so I guess I went to my first game a bit later than most Vol fans, but, better late than never.

So, this all started at around 5, when I called my buddy up and asked whether he was going or not. He was, with about 6 or 7 of our other friends(don't worry, we were going in seprate cars), and we headed out the door at around 6, and it took about 5-10 mins. from where we live to get to the coliseum.
(don't worry, I'm going to skip a few parts)

I got my tickets for like $20 from a scalper on the way in(can't believe how cheap it was), so while our other buddies looked for some cheap tix, me, my friend, and his younger brother went on in, and found our seats.

When the team ran through the T, I almost had to hold back a few man-tears.

And so, the game was under way, and I cheered my ass off. NIU got a field goal to start out, if I'm correct, and out O came out there, thankfully with Nick Stephens as the QB. When they announced his name, everyone cheered as loud as they could.

As the game wore on, it became increasingly apparent that an upset might be looming(it was freaking 6-3 at half!!)

Let's see, I cheered when Stephens threw that long ass pass to G-Jones for 42 yards, and again when he threw that long catch to Denarius Moore. I booed when the refs were making phantom calls the whole game(that was the worst officiated game I've ever seen)

But, to the relief of me and the fans, we won 13-9(it's still NIU, not like we played Bama), so we went down to the aisle above the tunnel of the UT players, you know, to get some gear that the players sometimes throw. Let's see, my buddy Jake got a lineman's glove, and Trey got a pair of reciever gloves.

My attempts to get Gerald Jones to throw some stuff were unsucessful, but oh well.

My last order of buisness was to get something from the Tennessee traditons store, I got me a #22 jersey(on sale for only $20, awesome), and thus my night was complete.

I hope to make it to the Bama game.

You just described some of what makes college football great. It's not always about the win or loss but the whole experience. Maybe, just maybe, those that go to every single game sometimes lose sight of the big picture.

Sounds like you had a blast! Always remember it and don't forget to come back!

Nice read, thanks for sharing your experience. Always good to get another persons/fans perspective, especially their first game.

Where were your seats? I had an extra ticket and sold it for $10.
