I listened to that game when I was living in Atlanta. It won the game for Tennessee and I said to my wife that was the dumbest play I had ever seen (heard). It is still the dumbest play I have ever heard of.

Could go the other way.... I prefer the college goal posts and has marks to pro..... much easier angles in the pros... too many FG too...

Why are they still kicking the ball off after a score or to start the game or half? They moved it up to reduce injuries, so why not just eliminate it and give each team the ball at the 25?

That rule sucks and would suck more if and when they start doing that

Why isn’t spiking the ball to kill the clock intentional grounding?

Because the intent of the intentional grounding rule is loss of yardage avoidance.

Intentional grounding (spiking) has exception clauses built in. It has to be done essentially immediately after the snap or after picking up a botched snap. You can’t drop back and then decide to spike it.

If the ball hits the ground on the snap you can't spike it.
