Weekly Recruiting Update 9/9 - 9/15

I know people are going to freak out and get upset, but now I'm going to spend way less time on VN and I come here for entertainment. Reading nothing but negative posts is just not entertaining to me.

^ I understand and agree. I shut my computer off at the end of the first quarter. I knew there was no reason to read VN at that point.

My takes from the game.....

1. We were big time underdogs....we lost

2. They were #2 in the country, we were unranked.....we lost.

3. CBJ is coaching a team that is made up of from 2/3 - 3/4 players he did not recruit for his system. You only need to look at next years recruiting to see the direction he is going, getting the players he wants.

4. We are still going to be a 6 win (possibly 7) team. Which is what the over whelming majority have expected.

5. Not game related......People need to learn and understand the difference between an opinion and just saying something stupid because you are not happy.

GO BIG FU****G ORANGE!!!

I come here for information and entertainment. If I spent the time reading all the negativity, I'd never get anything done.

However...there's negativity and then there's telling it like it is and/or opining in a matter-of-fact, no-nonsense, logical manner.

Don't spend your time lamenting on the former, but the latter is what makes this place great. You have to skim over a sh*t-ton of posts to find the latter but there are plenty on here.

Regardless of whether the poster or the post is popular or mutually agreed upon by the majority, dissenting remarks and opinions are inevitable...and as long as they're based in reality and have some semblance of intelligence, have at it.

I typically avoid VN for a couple of days after a bad loss...it will only bring you down.

I typically read every post to make sure I get as much as I can for the weekly update. Since the game I find myself saying screw it, its not worth it. I might just become one of those users that checks in to see if we got a commit.

I'm going to sound arrogant here but so be it...there's a lot of *ahem* mentally handicapped posters on here, skip over 'em.

Just wanted to tell you good luck on your new job.
I will add an opinion on the negative posters though. I read a lot of them and have to laugh because some of them are so stupid. I worked in an industrial setting for about 40 years before I retired seven years ago and got to work around a few people that may very well be related to these NegaVols, there were some so stupid it was embarassing to hear them talk. Some of them had college degrees and as the old saying goes they didn't have enough sense to "get out of the rain". POA, we hope that you continue to post your great updates as it gives us a lot of info in one place. I guess that we'll always be plagued with the nega posters so we'll have to try harder to just ignore them.
Thanks for your updates. :good!:

Thanks again for this update, POA. This really is the best thread on this site and I dont even think it's close, imo. :good!:

As far as the Negavols, it really is annoying reading through constant posts bashing coaches, players, recruits, and anything and everything else they find to b!*** about when things aren't going well. I know every fan base has them and they have a right to their opinion like everyone else but for the most part the people posting the negative comments don't fully realize all of the reasons why we are where we are today and everything that goes on behind the scenes to get to where we all want to be, at the top of the SEC. All they see is what happens on the field for three hours on 12 Saturday's every Fall.

If any of you have lived in Alabama for a decent length of time like I did, you know exactly what I mean and this goes for any other state/fan base too, especially in the South. Although it's hard for me to imagine anywhere being worse than bama. There were so many times with me being such a big UT fan growing up down there where a bammer would start talking crap to me about all their (questionable) NC's and Bear Bryant and roll tide blah, blah, blah. It wouldn't take me more than a couple minutes usually to figure out how big of a fan they really were. All I'd have to do is ask them to name more than 5 players other than the QB on bama's team. If they could answer that (which most honestly couldn't) I'd ask something like who's UA's AD or who's their DB's coach or something they should easily know if they were as big of a fan as they claimed to be.

My point is, there are more and more of these kind of "fans" these days on sites like this all over the SEC as well as social media. They watch a game like vs Oregon and then log into VN and start all the negativity (farr Butch, etc). The real UT fans should easily see the situation we're in and as bad as it sucks, know we have to be patient. Especially with this new staff and what they're doing off the field with the player's grades being up, recruiting, and all the other little things it takes to build a championship caliber program.

Anyways, thanks again for doing these, POA. Good luck with the new job and be sure to save all your vacation time for the days/weeks leading up to NSD14 :)

Who are UTs remaining targets? With 24 already on the books, who are potential greyshirts? Just curious.
