As most of you know, I've started a weekly recruiting update series. I have family coming in town along with my sons birthday this week, so I probably won't be on VN enough to post an update next Monday. Here's the update for 8/12 - 8/18

- Rumor of Jalen Hurd decommitting. His mom squashed the rumors on VQ. Dude is all Vol.
- Norcross (Mouhon) vs Booker T Washington will air on ESPN August 24th
- A few commits make it in to the open practice. (TK2 and Gaulden, maybe others)
QB Recruiting:
- Quinton Flowers releases top 6 of UT, Clemson, Cincy, Nebraska, Texas, TCU. No order
RB Recruiting:
- Chris James said hes eyeing the Oct. 5th home game as a possible official visit. Wants to official to his top 3 of UT, Pitt and Mich St.
WR Recriuting:
- "Additionally, the Vols have regained some footing with in-state stud wide receiver Josh Malone. The Station Camp High School standout has a very strong rapport with both Tommy Thigpen and Butch Jones. Don't be surprised if Malone visits when the Vols host Georgia." - VQ
- Josh Malone makes it in for open practice. Seen laughing with CBJ and hugging TK2. Says he thinks playing time is attainable at UT. Hasnt decided which UT game he will official to, looking at USCe, Vandy or UGA. Says hes got a good connection with the coaches. We think he rode to the practice with Gaulden
- Josh Malone thread takes a hard derail. Becomes a Cooper vs CP thread.
LB Recruiting:
- Clifton Garrett said its great to talk to CBJ on the phone.
- Petera Wilson starts receiving multiple predictions to Memphis. Posters say the reason his rating dropped is because he is slow and overweight.
D-Line Recruiting:
- Waco said 247 guys were at Lamberts practice and got the feeling from his teammates that hes leaning toward UF
- JUCO DT Davonte Lambert commits to The University of Tennessee. Was a silent for 2 weeks and will enroll in January.

- Rumor Barnett injured his back per Dave Hooker. No evidence. Practiced later in the week.
- Dante Sawyer said he is nearing a decision. Top schools of USCe, AU, UT and UGA. No school leads
- DT Daniel Cage told scout that UF, UT, Arky, UL and Mich St. are standing out to him
- JUCO DT Calvin Huertelou has top 3 of UT, Mizzou and K-State.
- UT will likely receive an OV from Matt Elam
- Connor Humphreys commits to ASU. Says he tried to commit to UT in mid July. "Humphreys planned to commit to Tennessee in mid-July but ran into complications."
- "I called the coach, and they told me that I needed to wait the weekend because they had a lot of visitors," Humphreys said. "They told me to wait and let's talk Monday. I thought about it over the weekend, and I thought, 'If someone can't accept me now, I don't want to accept them.' I want a school that's going to be just as excited as I am to go there."

- Scout says UT will get an official from DE Cory Thomas. Says Tennessee is climbing the list but Miss St. leads
DB Recruiting:
- Chris Lammons commits to UF and says UT was #2.
- Quincy Wilson and Ermon Lane also commit to UF
- John Plattenburg receives official offer to UT in the mail. Forternberry says hes been talking about visiting UT and could become more of a real target if he makes the trip
- Evan Berry said he weighed in at 203 lbs and ran a 4.34 40
- Nick Glass decommits from UGA
2015 Recruiting:
- Chuma Edoga, Taj Griffin and Tyler Woodley decide to take a trip to Knoxville for the open practice. They did not make it in.
- '15 GA WR Preston Williams says UT leads
- 247 says whoever lands Charles Mosley, will have the inside track on Drew Richmond
- '15 DT Ken Allen shows up for open practice
- '15 LB Brant Mitchell shows up for open practice
2016 Recruiting:
- ATH Mecole Hardman visited during open practice. Says he was blown away. Was hanging out with Gaulden and Malone
- WR Dionte Mullins says he like UT and AU early on
Other Notes:
- Although Connor Humphreys cut us out of his favorites, his thread became a hot spot for debate on the upcoming season
- Alternate uniforms were released. The color is "Smokey" which has become an official school color,
- Cuonzo gets a basketball commit with PF CJ Turman, who is a top 150 player

- Rumor that Maggit might redshirt, BruinVol calls him maggot
