after reading some of the other posts and a few of the articles up already and watching most all of the games yesterday....here are few things that stood out to me, and i'll start with the TN/USM game...

i'm very glad there was a 2nd half. in the first half everything was just bad. the defense looked worse than last week...missed tackles, again, out of position all over the feild, again, yada, yada, yada. and the offense, for as well as it did play, it really left me scratching my head at times. the JC play really made me wonder....i just kept hearing CDC in my head "we were just 'outhinking' ourselves." and as well as Arian Foster played looking back on it...there were times in the 1st half where i really wanted anyone else in the game. I still have no use for Josh Briscoe. Erik ainge was great. AR and LT were great as wel. and like VIA said in another thread, the O line looks to be getting better and better.

now, to offer some credit where credit is due.....the end of the 2nd qtr where went for the 4th and 7...i just have this funny feeling someone got pissed off on the sidelines and that was a "challenge" play. good call. team responded and it carried over to the 2nd half. for the first time a what seems like a long time, the coaching staff did, cough, and EXCELLENT job of making adjustments for the 2nd half. they established the run, got lennon creer involved, hardesty involved and then FINALLy statred to feed AF the ball, which payed huge dividends. and the defense....well....night and day difference. all i can say is it was at least good to see that we are capable of reaking some havoc for an opposing offense. forced turnovers, punts, qb hurries and had some big hits.

but i'll admit, at half time....i was ready to fire EVERYBODY.

so i'm very glad there was a 2nd half....that was more like it. how does that translate to next week? have no idea....i still don't think we will win that game, but it does still have to be played.

Elsewhere: BC and Clemson are the class of the ACC. OK is the class of the big 12, and the 2nd place team isn't even close. LSU is the class of the SEC and 2nd isn't close. as bad as it may be in K'ville, does anyone want to trade with Michigan right now? oof....tough times in Ann Arbor....that's a bad team. and there's no one in the big 10 that should scare anyone... my top 3...LSU, OK, USC. doesn't matter after that right now.

Auburn: WTF? nicely done Tommy.
Alabama: big deal. you beat Vandy. Again.
South Carolina: nicely done, seriously.
Notre Dame: :eek:lol:
Florida: see you next week...me thinks it will be a high scoring affair.
Georgia: Mark Richt=CPF light. told ya Rex.

it's now officially Florida Week. Go Vols.:peace2:

I think it's safe to say that there are alot of teams out there that have more problems than we do.

Yeah, that wasn't obvious was it? Third and one and they take Ainge out, empty the backfield and bring Crompton in. Brilliant!!

One thing I noticed watching games this weekend was the power of a running QB and the spread offense.

QB's from Oregon, Washington, LSU and even UAB keep things alive by keeping the run threat alive.

I love Ainge but it looks like the near-term future in college ball is some form of the spread with a QB that can run and pass.

seriously, for a second, i thought Ainge had been hurt.....i sat there and was like WTF? i'm all for being imaginative and "out of the box"...but i sometimes seriously thought they were sitting around going "well, let's try this? OK, what about this?"....

good point, and as much as i hate to even post this, this is something that granny clampet himself has been talking about for a few weeks....the great equalizer against a big strong defense...spread the feild and add just any amount of speed and you can win.

but as has happened with everyother offense created, defenses will eventually catch up....hoping ours does quickly....

Jake, as far as Richt vs Phil, you were 100% spot on.
thanks...and believe me,i take much more pleasure in GA losing than being right on this board. it just goes to show, the grass simply isn't always greener.

What is essential for the mobile QB is accuracy though. That Dixon kid had one of the highest NCAA completions percentages last year. Flynn is also a very good passer, same seems to be with Tebow. Crompton may be a good passer, but no one is going to respect his throwing ability until he proves that it is a huge threat.

Yea that was stupid and it makes me question how great this running game of ours is, that everyone keeps bragging on. When people know you are coming and still can't stop you, that is when you have a great running game. Refer to the UF game last year.

The blame lies more with the Offensive Coordinator than the run game. Cute playcalling on 3rd and 1 sucks.

You might not like his playcalling but I disagree on the problem not being the run game. If you were confident in your ability to run the playcalling is not that difficult on 3rd and 1.

I think they wanted to be cute and show off all the "new" plays they worked on instead of doing what was working.

That type of QB has ben around for a long time (option QB's) the problem is injuries you have most of O in one bag and putting that bag in harms way, well not so good if you don't have another Qb.
