QB Jarrett Guarantano and WR Marquez Callaway were both full participants again today during the open period of practice.

Freshman Jeremy Banks was working exclusively with the first-team defense at ILB during the open period. I’d consider that both an endorsement of him making a full-time move and the health of the RB group.

Starting tailback Ty Chandler was on the bike today and spent time working with the trainers, too.

With Austin Pope and LaTrell Bumphus dinged up, the Vols moved Ja’Quain Blakely back to tight end. Princeton Fant was also working with Brian Niedermeyer’s unit. The Vols were working on a lot of two-tight end sets.

Defensively, Jeremy Banks was getting lots of work at linebacker today. He was shadowing Daniel Bituli on almost every rep, including lots of situational blitz work.

JJ Peterson was also with the ILB. The freshman looked like he tweaked his groin early in the period. With both Banks and Peterson at ILB, Solon Page remained at safety.

During Tennessee’s DIME work, Trevon Flowers was with the first-team. He was paired at safety with Nigel Warrior, while the inside corners were Shawn Shamburger and Baylen Buchanan. Darrin Kirkland was the LB with that unit.

I can't wait to see Banks at LB. I just think he has the attitude you need to be an SEC LB.. Glad JG is at full go..
