Wednesday Morning Practice

Lane and Reaves were yelling "TOUCHDOWN! TOUCHDOWN!" While Coach O and Monte were yelling, "NO, HIS KNEE WAS DOWN AT THE 3! THAT'S 4TH DOWN! 4TH DOWN!"

Was the play challanged? [:D]

When my son and I were at practice yesterday, Jones did something to his knee during a passing drill. Planted really hard on a come back route, made the catch, and then said he'd "hurt something''. The ref that was there throwing flags when interference happened commented to Jones that he "stopped on a dime" and Jones said "yeah, but I hurt something" and went immediately to a trainer. Seemed to be walking ok but didn't practice after that. Not claiming to be an insider or anything - that one just happened right in front of us and we heard the conversation.

Was you with the little girl wearing the UT jersey? I think it was #27

Yes, that was her, and that was me chasing here around everywhere.:)

We're thinking about coming again tonight. She had lots of fun and says she wants to go again. If we don't come tonight, we'll definitely come again tomorrow.

so how does this attending practice thing work? do you just show up and walk in?

Yep. The gate is open, so just walk right in. I talked to one of the trainers while I was there, and he said all the practices are open to the public. They aren't advertised that way though because they don't want 1,000s of people showing up. Only about 20 people were there this morning, and I think that's the way they want to keep it.

For those that have attended practice in past years, were the offensive and defensive coaches not as competitive during practice compared to the current staff?

The only person I have ever known that went to UT's practice said that Fulmer and Cutcliffe stood there and didn't say anything except to one another the entire practice. In the meantime, Chavis was screaming, cursing, full of energy at everyone on the field.

What time did night practice start? I walked by Monte's house at about 5 and there were a ton of people there. Not sure if he was, but I thought I heard him on his back porch.

what time do the early practices start? Also what gate does one need to go through to attend?

Early practices are on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. They start sometime between 8am and 9am. It's different every time.

You know the alley where the football players enter the field? The entrance for fans and the media is on the exact opposite side of the field. It's the only gate that's open.

Thanks krab, I am off on fridays so I will definitely attend the early practice! However, I have never been to a practice, sadly, I'm not even sure where they practice. Is it lower/upper hudson field? near the baseball field?

Haslam field is where they practice. It's behind (just South of) Stokely and just East of the baseball field. It's also behind the front of Neyland-Thompson Sports Center (just West of it). It's at the intersection of Johnny Majors Drive and Pat Head Summit Street. The gate to enter the field for fans is on Pat Head Summit Street.

It's really not that hard to find. I am absolutely terrible when it comes to following driving directions, and I found it easily by myself. Just drive around until you hear Coach O's voice. You'll know you're close then! lol

Here's a map to help you further.

Click on "large 4x4 grids" then click on "11" then click "display map" and that should give you a clear image of Haslam field and its location.

.
Quote of the day, Coach O told the defense during these drills "Chase their ass down, chase their ass down!" During this segment, Crompton missed 2 snaps in a row.

That's why Ole Miss's QB play was so dam wretched for Coach O; they we're scared ****less.
