I utterly hated him in 2009. But, from an Xs and Os / recruiting / energy standpoint, he is the best option we have currently. I will go a little further and say from my point of view, before all of this happened I was open to him coming back, I think he has learned a lot. The recent events have just pushed us further to realizing this. It's time to kiss and makeup. Huge buyout. Money for assistants.

Rally the Vols, fixed bayonets. Get Kiffin and let's beat BAMA.

Only guy out there that they could hire that we could win an SEC championship in 5 yrs or less . WE are fools to still be sitting on our hands and not have made an offer.

At this point, Kiffin is my number one choice, but I'm telling you, there is a snowball's chance. We have all been watching national media, along with the VN site, and no one on the national scene, and no one being quoted in the administration, is even considering him.

If there isn't a way to make the preference of the fans known to the powers that be, we are wasting our time.

Also, at this point, does he even want the job?

I think he would kill it. At this point I top three are Kiffin, Leach and Peterson. just please no Brohm, Morris or no state dude. Does anyone see Fulmer and peyton signing off on Kiffin? I don’t but i hope so

Right now Tennessee needs this hire if he were willing to come.

If he were willing to jump into this mess.......then he would be willing to do anything to right the wrongs, and prove what should have happened years ago.

Never liked him.......but dang if that guy would jump into this...........we couldn't;t even expect for more.

How big of a hypocrite would we be to morally hurt a mans reputation over a “he heard someone else mention Schiano” but we take a guy who recruits Nukeese like players, crashes cars drunk, committed adultery, and sends hoes to SC to persuade recruits.

Seriously we would be crucified for the hire after our stand against Schiano because everyone knows we used his past because we didn’t like him as a choice.

It would look bad on all levels.

So, as a fan base, since he has that kind of approval and acceptance, is there something we could band together and do to make this happen?

I mean, people (not me) rose up in righteous indignation Sunday and stopped a hire. Is there a way we could come up with something to let the powers that be know this is something we want pursued? Any body up for a petition or mass call/email campaign?

How about a little contingency of fans get together and go visit Lane? lol

He is the best choice. Tennessee football would be fun again. I would love to have a guy with some confidence and the coaching to back it up.

1. Crashes cars drunk--my understanding is that was never confirmed. It was a rumor.
2. Committed adultery--I admit I never read where he was caught doing that, but he sure isn't the first. I wouldn't want to judge a man on that.
3. They weren't 'hoes', they were hostesses. It was very common practice among many SEC schools to have hostesses greet and entertain players. In my younger (much) days, I actually dated one--nice young lady.
4. Is Nukeese like players like Jauan Jennings, who was caught stoned in the middle of the week because he missed practice? Always going to have players like that.
