You are correct. I thought we were a possibility for two or three 5 stars. Apparently, Kirkpatrick is our only shot. And, probably a long shot. Unless, we can get him to campus on the 30th or 31st. Maybe we steal one away listed as a verbal with someone else.

thats dumb. nah, just kidding. you are absolutely right, but having a high ranked recruiting class does alot for fan morale and more importantly, our football program's image. cant undervalue that.

Which 5* will we get between now and NSD? I know we are capable of a lot of the 4 stars, but most of the 5 stars we are going after don't have us in the final 2 or so...

In another turn of events, Reid said he will likely visit Tennessee rather than Alabama this weekend. “They [Tennessee] have been with me longer than Alabama.”

If we are going to legitimately compete for SEC championships we will have to both recruit top 15+ classes AND coach them up. Florida and Alabama have great talent and great coaching. Great coaching alone (assuming we have that with the current staff), will still need excellent talent to surpass florida and alabama.

The good news is that we are on track to pick up a pretty good class this year... I am extremely happy that this won't be another pass like the 2008 and 2006 classes were (no offense to the handful of good players we got those years).

The way the formula works UT would probably get close to a top 10 class if they signed one or two more 4* and 6 or 7 3*. Somehow you get partial credit for larger classes. The Berry class had about 30 players in it which helped the higher ranking.

Yes - volume plays in heavily as it generates more "points" on which they base the rankings. The fact that we were #16 with only 16-17 commits is a good sign. Most of the teams ahead of us had more commits, so we definitely have room to move up, especially if we land several 4 stars.

It seems to me that if we put any stock into these recruiting ratings that we should consider the average "stars". Apparently a team that has 25 commits with no 4 or 5 stars can rank higher than a team having 12 commits with several 4 and 5 star players. Based on average stars (quality recruits?) Tennessee would already rank 10th with Rivals. I am just confused on this and need someone to tell me why we don't rank higher than South Carolina. Their average stars is 3.28 with 25 commits. I think I would prefer our 3.59 average with 15 commits.

For the sake of conversation, and because I'd like to know myself. I don't have rivals or scout subscriptions, so I'm not in the know.

Who does everyone think that we are probably going to get?

Who do we need the most?
