We need to cut Fulmer some slack

Well, to be fair, you would also need to have people that didn't know squat about sales or real estate looking over your shoulder critiquing every statement made to a potential buyer, and when they tired of that start discussing what you had for lunch.

this is a pointless debate. there is no realistic way to compare what CPF does or what he is compensated to what you or I do or make.

i can tell you this, i don't have thousands of people calling in and sending emails to my boss, that don't work for hte same company as i do, when i do screw up. it's not reported and discussed on media outlets that i should be fired week after week, month after month, year after year.

why would anyone want to be a HFC at a big time football program for less than what these guys make?

you hear the stories all the time about how these coaches' families are brought in to the cross hairs of public criticism.

i mean if we're going to discuss this, it's the same discussion as how pro baseball players are making HUNDREDS OF MILLIONS of dollars while school teachers make 40 grand a year. is playing right feild for the Royals really that much more important than teaching 6th graders? no, it's not. yet the right feilder will make in one year what it takes a teacher 10 years to make if he's making the league minimum.

it's all about perspective and priority.

the truth is for the "job" that any of these people do, whether it be Head Coaches, players, actors, actresses........whatever........pale in comparison to the average person just earning a living for their families.

saying otherwise like it's brand new information is naive at best.

but these people are paid in direct correlation to the revenue generated by the services they perform. these people don't earn what they earn while the overall product loses money. that's why there's a difference in salaries in coaching at TN vs. Carson Newman. they are paid what the market will bare. when the market says you're not worth this any longer, is when salaries will decline.

so if you don't like it.......stop buing tickets, don't donate, don't buy the games on ppv, don't buy any clothing or apparell, don't subscribe to the cable companies that show the coaches' shows or televise their games. don't go to bowl games and hope your team misses the post season at all costs so that additional revenue goes out the window as well.

until then, lets keep it in perspective folks.

Great Point, I see what you are saying, but... if my cut was that good then I might be willing to try it, I mean can you imagine, Can you believe he told them about the sink hole, dang it, he just cost us the deal, yeah and he spent an hour at lunch eating chicken wings, and he is always on Volnation, it is just minimized, like we don't see that little bar at the bottom of his screen. We need a new Realtor.

Fulmer makes $2mm a year precisely because it's a pressure-cooked job with high expectations from a whole bunch of people and lots of $$ on the line. If he didn't have to hear and deal with criticisms (from all sources - fans, administration, media, parents, players, coaches, etc.), then he wouldn't earn what he does. So absolutely people should hold him to a high standard - he needs to earn those paychecks.

If Fulmer didn't want the pressure, he could coach somewhere where there's much less of it, like Furman, and I guarantee he would still be required to work as hard as he currently does.

And would you be loyal enough to the agency and love what you did to the point that you would put up with it for 16 years?

The bottom line is that standards at TN are high. Most programs would love to win 7-8 games every year and lose in the Buy.com bowl or whtever the bowl may be. Here at TN, we expect to go to the SEC Championship game every year. While those expectations are lofty, nothing less will do. That is pressure and with the talent we have each year, it should be attainable. FL. won it 5 out of 8 years. If those polesmokers in FL can do it, so can we. Forget the pressure, just make it happen Phil.

We start our 4 year win streak Sat.

GO VOLS!!!!!!
