Especially right now with our two best linebackers out and Cam out as well. Our back up linebackers have been phenomenal in the last few games however, facing a mobile QB, it leaves us vulnerable with speed. If a safety is required to hold Knight in check with his legs, then we will be torched in the passing game.

Our Oline will have a tough time but I expect some tight end chips to help.

Overall, Shoop is going to have to come up with an amazing game plan and our offense will need grind out some first downs to rest the defense.

I agree this is not a good match-up for us and will be very surprised if we do not get blown out. This has the feeling of an emotionally spent team heading into a very hostile environment with some costly injuries. We are going to have to keep A & M off of the field and put together some long sustained drives scoring td's not kicking field goals. Unfortunately, we may be without our best power running back.

Hurd? Hasn't this been discussed repeatedly that he is NOT hurt and will be a full go Saturday?

This comment has the feeling of beaten wife syndrome. This team is just getting started. We have a goal. That goal is stopping alabama in our house. To do that we have to step on A&M like a bug. Yes we match up with bama very well this year. Their Oline isn't good, their QB is a freshman (although a very good one), They don't have a great RB this year, and they are having some ghetto kiffen internal strife.

I have seen UT play enough mobile qb's in my life to know this is not a good match-up for us. We have also played Knight before and he beat us like a rented mule.

Yep. Our secondary vs their WRs is a huge concern. If we are unable to get pressure and/or their QB is on his A game, we are in for a long, hard day.

UT players and coaches will likely be looking ahead to alabama this weekend---they should be able to grab a 7 point win at a&m then get ready for the biggest game in years!!

Vol fans are still not too confident in team 120's 5-0 record, are they?

Can the Vols secondary survive Trevor Knight & Co?

Can the Vols improve tackling beyond the line of scrimmage?

I don't have a good feeling about this game, do you?

Go Vols

So much wrong with this statement. Ugh, ignored.

I get a confident vibe from the team this week. They appear to be up for the challenge and want to be taken seriously. We have a lot of leadership and I think we will finally put together a 4 quarter performance Saturday. Just from the tone of practice this week alone, there appears to be a sense of urgency from the team now after narrowly escaping Athens with the W.

I don't have much confidence in the lb's ability to contain Knight. We had issues containing him with a better lb corp back in 2014. We do have a better dline and secondary than 2014 so we will see how it plays out.

I just can't see a blow out either way. Both teams are too good and I think both defenses are good enough to keep the other team in check. Like always when two teams are pretty evenly matched...turnovers...who wins the line of scrimmage.

I actually think we match up worse against Bama because of our LB's being out. They will run it right at us and that could expose our lack of talent there. We saw that against UGA too where we had trouble stopping the run.

Our linebackers were way slower in 2014. AJ was good at getting to the ball and made a lot of tackles, but often took poor angles. If Kirkland is healthy enough to play effectively our chances of winning will increase significantly. Jumper has improved this year, but is too big of liability in defending the run. McDowell will do fine.

We could lose but no way in hell we get blown out. We're not that bad of a football team like you're assuming. As a matter of fact, I would not be surprised if we pulled out another victory. This team has a goal right now; Beat Texas A&M and focus on Bama in our house. The players will be confident coming into College Station.

Hurts is more mobile than Knight. We have familiarity with Knight and not with Hurts. The ONLY reason you feel that way is because Bama is at home.

Actually, Vegas agrees with me too and while we are at it, I heard a Vegas sports guy talk specifically about this game this evening. Mentioned our linebackers and the mismatch in containing Knight.
